GBA Chu Chu Rocket cured me of the need for any more!
I was digging through an old box filled with some old shit when I used to work at a Funcoland/Gamestop and I found a CCR GBA cart. I never even owned a GBA. I was a NeoGeo Pocket guy personally.
Speaking of the NGPC, and on topic, I also found my NGPC to DC link cable. Something I never ever used.
Oh...well...
Honestly, for me, the Dreamcast was the last great videogame system. I've owned (and still own) the PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii, and I just haven't had nowhere near as much fun with any of these systems as I did with my Dreamcast.
The graphics on all the games keep getting better and better, but the gameplay keeps getting more dull and boring. The last 2 generations have seemed to be nothing but boring FPS/TPS games (especially of the WWII variety), rehashed sports games, really fucking generic JRPGs (seriously, Skies of Arcadia was the last good one I played and people thought that was generic at the time...its gotten way worse), rehashed racing games, and...and...and not much else honestly...maybe a few niche games here and there to cater to the more old school gamers.
Hell, even Naughty Dog is making third person shooters now (Uncharted) instead of good ol' platformers (Jak and Daxter). Sucker Punch did the same thing. Where the fuck is a new Sly Cooper game? Instead we get another boring open world GTA style game.
Basically, the video game industry just isn't making games for ME anymore. I often walk into a video game store and can't find any games that interest me anymore. Its all about realism and boring online multiplayer that I couldn't give two shits about. Even video game critics mark a game down because it doesn't have online multiplayer. What...the new Metroid doesn't have online multiplayer even though its definitely a single player experience...shave 2 points off the score. I have a feeling that I will not be playing video games anymore within the next five years....if the industry keeps going in the direction its heading.
So yeah...long live the Dreamcast!
Dude, I took a pretty big hiatus from console gaming and I was floored by the 360. With the amount of titles you can officially play on that thing - it's alarming. Is there shit? Yep. Lots of it too. But I've never seen a system so well geared to both the obnoxious gamer who loves games to hit them like exploding jackhammers and to the OG "hardcore" gamer. There's so much to love on it. DC was amazing, really, but maybe I'm just in shock (yeah, I'm a noob again) at how in-fucking-credible the 360 is.
MP: I'm super happy they don't make games for you, I don't like a single one you mentioned!
Come on, there's nothing on the 360/PS3?
We look at games that we grew up with more fondly than new games now.
I don't care that you like the old games better than the current games. But to say all the new games are just FPS/TPS is just ignorant. There are more variety now than it has ever been (except maybe 2D games, but DL games are covering this genre pretty well and we are seeing a resurgence of shmups as well). If you can't find something that's because you aren't looking hard enough.
I'd hazard to say there are more good games on XBLA alone than the Dreamcast.
Yeah, there's often something out there in some form or another. Even when there isn't, though? I can't really worry too hard about not being able to play the upcoming Cave ports when there's so much old shit I haven't played yet anyway. Same goes for everyone.Quote:
