Wasn't planning to purchase one for a while thinking there would be a shortage. Ended up getting one on launch day purely by fortunate circumstances. Friend reserved one at the local Gamestop (at the time the only one in the entire state...lucky me..). Went with him to the mall where the Gamestop was located. Line was going out of the store, wrapped around the food court, and snaked further down the corridor. I waited with him for a while then decided to meander around the mall for a bit. Went upstairs and wandered into a KayBee Toys (remember those?) which was totally empty except for 2 clerks. Made small talk with one of the clerks when Dreamcast came up as a topic. Mentioned that I was with a friend who was waiting in a long line at Gamestop, and he then casually mentioned that they had a few in stock and asked if I wanted to buy one. I didn't think to even ask as I assumed everyone would be sold out. Impromptu purchase of a DC, extra controller, and Soul Calibur. Went back downstairs, walked by my friend who didn't seem to have moved much, trolled him by waving the DC box, and then went home (he was my ride, but I lived about a mile away, so I walked). Got home, connected the system, and was blown away by Soul Calibur.

Such a great day and such a great console!
