He was saying "ban pls" at the allegation that Capcom has downs. They've had a few rough seasons perhaps, but nothing that lasted long enough that it could be designated an outright company-wide downturn, and certainly nothing on par with EA's gen-long brushes with irrelevance.
To me, closing down Clover Studio was a big letdown, if not a down. That said, I merely base my comment on general opinion and sales, which doesn't necessarily make EA a total shite company; nor does it make Capcom one. Madden and Megaman games still sell, even if some hate them.
Okami, Viewtiful Joe 2/DS/RHR, and God Hand are all shit and sold accordingly. Closing Clover was not only good business, it was the right thing to do, period.
The early 90's takes the prize for where EA's best efforts were found.
Populous, Command and Conquer strategy games, System Shock, Ultima... there was just so much quality coming out of that company. I must say, as much as I enjoyed "Black and White" and "Command and Conquer: Renegade" (yes, I do actually find that to be a great game) they really sucked during the early-to-mid 00's. That had to be their darkest hour.
16 bit days was glorious, their 80s computer games are also classics.... yet I am very impressed with the quality and innovation they are putting out this generation. NHL 09 is probably the best hockey game ever (yes better than 94) and Skate is just unbelievable. Still I will go with 16 bit just because current gen hasn't ended yet. But if they keep it up, I am going to change my mind.
Populous came out in 1989 on the Amiga and PC.
I'm having a hard time deciding on this one. Populous and other EA games on the Amiga and C-64 were some of the best of their generation. The Genesis had a ton of greats as well and the Burnout series in the early 2000s was one of my favorites.
