Eternal Darkness - first impressions

Spoilers ahead... watch yourself.



Ok, I guess you go with diffrent characters depending on certain choices you make... I just completed the French guys chapter and I cant figure out what to do next. The only thing in the house I can figure out to interact with is the stupid telescope.

On to Sanity effects... I got a BSOD!! These sanity effects dont just mess with the game character, they mess with you too! I saw something on my TV so I went to swat it off... it was a freaking fly from in the game! Eventually there was a whole swarm crawling across my screen. Ever so freaky.

I got a fake "Not recognizing controller in port one" message! WTF?! I just got my WaveBird and was about to scream!

Damn game screwing with me. I'll show it!

Well, I was able to get myself a copy last night :) And played just for a little bit. The game looks great, the mansion, the great lighting effects, music, and very creepy sounds.

I wish characters in cut scenes were better done though. They seem to be somewhat blocky, and not very detailed, compared to RE remake. If Capcom can do it, why SK cant. They had a long time to work on this game. And the videos are pixelating, but other than those 2 minor flaws, everything else is great :)

Cant wait to get home tonight and play some more :)

Johnpv: Yes, the game does support progressive scan. I think you hold down B after the disc boots - during the beginning of the Poe quote. I found this out while trying to skip the quote.

Well, I imagine it had something to do with the fact that this was, for most of it's life, an N64 game. But, maybe that argument os no good, since RE was a PSOne game...

My retort, as I'm sure you've grown to expect, is that, if SK can make a S-H game that doesn't control like ass, why can't Capcom.

But at least we can agree that ED raises holy hell. :)

Well, I never said that RE had a bad controls :) In fact, I liked that set up alot. It works great with RE games, but I also have no problem with the way ED controls.

But the cut scenes and FVM compressions is a different story. I expect better on the more powerful hardware that Cube is, and RE remake delivered in that area.
