Signs You're Getting Old

At a Christmas party, a bunch of us dudes in our early 30's were talking about how we need to watch what we eat, have aches/pains we've never had, general stuff about seeing the doc.

I thought to myself, "Aaaaand this is the start of what will pass as small talk for the next 40 years."

First time in my life I felt old.

how has this not been mentioned already:
you know you're old when you make a thread like this.

Take a look around at all the miserable people around town.
They used to be full of life and vibrancy. A shitty career is what happened to them too.

The trick is to find yourself something you're really good at, whether you like it or not, take however long you need to make a sizable nest egg, and then pursue something that's really of interest to you. Easy as it is to become jaded, if you have a plan and keep your eyes on the prize, you can power through it.

That does work. The problem is people often land a job they hate but don't have the balls to leave, then they spend like whores, let their possessions own them in the form of debt now it's not practical to leave, then they get married, have a few kids and like Sonny from A Bronx Tale said, "Now yous can't leave". And since they're too stupid to guide their kids properly their kids will follow the same pattern. Some won't really notice or mind this, some will hate their lives but be too addicted to the lifestyle to withdraw. Most just stay in their lucid states throughout life but occassionally one wakes up and can tune. Even a pawn can become a queen.

And if you try and tell them, they just get defensive.

I remember when a can of tuna didn't taste weird or come pureed. Or a Snickers bar was more than three bites. grumble grumble

You have a stack of games, unopened, on the shelf and don't have time to play/finish them because of work.
