So what I've learned from reading this thread is that Weeman is somehow the spokesperson for metal, and no one cares, and that life is better when you just listen to music and enjoy it instead of getting caught up in all this pretentious crap.

Hipster is such a funny term, on one hand it's used to cover your 80s revivalist types and on the other it's used to cover teenagers. Either way, it's only used in a negative sense, it doesn't define any particular group or social trend. The definition for that negative sense seems pretty clear to me.
