I think the ban being proposed was for automatic rifles. Semi-automatic rifles also count as assault weapons even though they only fire one bullet every time the trigger is pulled.

full auto pretty much is banned. You can only buy ones registered before 1986 and you have to do a ton of paper work. Much more than any of the supposed new legislation.

Focusing attention on a much larger and imminent threat than guns, someone try to defend the Democrats in Congress on this issue.

edit: Hell, let's make this a two-for. What is the Idiot-in-Chief going to do now that his ultimatum on chemical weapons in Syria has blown up on him? My money is on putting his tail between his legs and ignoring perhaps the most grievous of human rights violations.

Secondly, invading the country Dubya-style would be a far more grievous violation of human rights.

That response is great though. So the President of the United State's words have zero value or meaning. That's a fantastic precedent. I can't imagine why he's not a more successful negotiator domestically!
