Also: I have never in my life seen a dog trailing behind its walker. Not saying theyre not supposed to or not. Just that I've never seen it.

They are supposed to be by your side. When the dog leads, they are saying they are the Alpha(leader of the pack). That's when the dog runs the house, barks at strangers, doesn't shut up when told too, jumps on people walking in, etc. I trained my dog to stand by my side, walks without a leash, listens to me, does not bark ... at all, and never jumps on anyone nor does he bite.
