Minorities will not vote for Republicans until R's admit they have been trading on white racial resentment for a generation and then stop doing it. The above quote could have been written yesterday, outside of "that's where the votes are." They're not so much anymore, and that's why Republicans are losing elections.

I don't care WHY it didn't pass. It does nothing to address the tragedies that propelled it to the floor, and it encroaches on freedom. The end justifies the means.

Oh, that's the "well, it doesn't magically fix everything so we'll just do nothing ever" thing I hear all the time now.

Obama is a very unique candidate who didn't exactly blow away two weak Republican candidates. Who exactly is going to carry that torch in 2016? And if the Republicans are losing so many elections, why can't Obama get anything through Congress?

It doesn't fix anything related to mass shootings.

BTW, I don't think the Dems do much than talk either. The truth is that neither party represents a working man like myself or anyone posting here. Both are the party of rentiers and rich parasites. Whatever the Dems say is far better to whatever the R's say though.

Obama actually did blow away two weak Republican candidates. Even after all the shit talking the past four years, the only Obama states Romney managed to retake in 2012 were North Carolina and Indiana. No Florida, no Ohio, no Michigan. He made no inroads with Jews or Hispanics either - I think he did worse with Hispanics than McCain did in 2008. He got stomped. It wasn't very close.

Republicans blew control of the Senate in both 2012 and 2010 because they decided to push some hardcore right wingers that everybody hated. They lost very winnable elections due to purity tests. All indicators point to more purity tests going forward. The base really believes that Romney didn't win because he wasn't conservative enough.

I don't know what will happen in 2016, it's too early. Republicans shouldn't get too excited though. Do you realize that Republicans have lost the popular election in five out of the past six Presidential elections? They only have the House because of 2010 gerrymandering.

Republicans thought they had 2012 in the bag because that's what the echo chamber kept telling them, truth is the demographic ground is shifting under their feet and they are doing little to respond.

BTW: the reason why he can't get stuff through Congress is because our system is shitty.

If you're right, then every working man is fucked, because our taxes are going to be insane to pay for an even larger power grab in Washington with zero value returned to us.
