People have moved to be closer to their ideological brethren. It has literally been a physical sorting process that began in the late 1960s.

He wasn't the source of that, and the fact that the guy may not end up getting deported doesn't change the fact that it could have been under consideration, which is insane under the circumstances.

I know an exact example, but he was a racist.

I have noticed all my left leaning friends have moved towards bigger cities, and all my right leaning friends have stayed in smaller suburbs and such. It makes trips back home very interesting.

I don't think many people would say they do it explicitly, but they move to different areas because of the "values" they present. Think of folks moving away from California to Arizona because of taxes, for example, while artist or tech types move TO California.

It absolutely has happened. There's been a book or two about it. I forget the names unfortunately.

Well, in this country, a bunch of stuff happened in this period of time we call the 1960s that opened up a whole crapload of fractures in the culture that we kind of kept underground before. We're still fighting those battles, sadly.

The end result is that loons like Steve King or Virginia Foxx aren't getting elected because only the crazies vote there or they kiss more babies than the other guy. They actually do represent the people living there.

Interesting stuff. I guess I sort of did that. I had multiple offers when leaving Indiana, but I chose here because I frankly wished my parents never moved me from South Carolina to Missouri to Indiana. I liked St. Louis but not as much as down here. I think that was more weather than politics though.
