I don't think I care about background checks. But if it wouldn't stop the tragedy they're using as their soap box then the argument doesn't hold much weight then, IMO. If background checks are a proven way to curb violence then go for it. I don't think that's ever been the case, though.Quote:

A news reporter from CNN tried to go in to a gun shop and buy handguns and automatic weapons to prove how easy it was. He came out with a spring loaded rifle. Hardly the coup he was expecting.
Well yeah? We need to go further, with continuous checks and harsher penalties on illegal distribution, which is I believe what I said before.

We know there are checks. The point of this legislation was to close gunshow and online loopholes in those checks
The CNN reporter was either an idiot or had a different agenda. Knowing CNN, probably both.
The problem isn't gun shops. They are (mostly) on the regular. The problem is all those other ways people get guns. The "gun show loophole" has been around forever and it's always been stupid. Nobody is out there saying it is the be-all end-all but there's no reason to keep it open.
Does Drew know that he just posted an article that's clearly pro background checks and that the pro gun guy quoted in it thinks we should instead fill schools with guns?
Because I'm pretty sure that it's not helping his argument.
When I was in the Manila, there were armed guards everywhere. Dudes with shotguns were walking around the banks.
Believe it or not... this did not make me feel safer! Anyone who thinks that drowning the country in guns and making sure everybody walking around is strapped would make things safer is just off the deep end. It'd put society on a hair trigger, quite literally. Not to mention that gun owners (like drivers for example) have a vastly inflated opinion of their own abilities.
There is a retarded amount of paper work for an automatic weapon. It would be easier to learn how to machine one. and build it in your garage (and get a free trip to club fed in doing so)Quote:
