Do you know anything about consumer history? Music History? Fads?
Back when it was mom and pop, You'd get things that would only be sold regionally. Music trends would be isolated to some areas. The general store didn't have all the hits from the whole country.
I know you think that they will be perfect businessmen, and find whatever people want to buy, but they won't. The huge success of pop music in the 80s was in part because of big chain stores like Walmart. You could now go somewhere and buy all the hits.
If walmart disappears, some stuff just won't be available locally anymore. Sure, the local hardware store might come back. But a lot of music, movies and toys are going to have to be ordered online. In store purchases for music are already dwindling. This would just push them further online.
