I played a demo unit on the weekend, and I really hope the load times I saw were due to unoptimized demos.
Every game I tried took between one and two minutes just to get to the title screen.
I was really digging Virtua Tennis and Hot Shots Golf, but I'm still not ready to drop that much cash for a portable I'll barely use.
Also, when did the Wipeout games lose left and right air brakes? It just feels all wrong.
You can fix that in the options, Kedawa. I don't know why the default doesn't have left and right air brakes. I completed the single player today. This could have been the best wipeout if the framerate weren't so bad.
It didn't seem that bad from the few minutes I played it. Does it get worse on certain tracks or if there's a lot going on, or do you just find it consistently bad?
From what I hear, the horrible load times are a fault of the slow memory card. Retail games boot a bit faster. Wipeout's load times are awful, no matter which version you play.
Out of the games I own, loading isn't really an issue. Uncharted takes forever for the initial load but never loads again, just like the PS3 games. Hot Shots Golf, Rayman, and Virtua Tennis do not have bad load times.
*edit* I'm not saying the retail cards are fast either, just faster than the memory cards. The 3DS uses flash memory as well and doesn't suffer from long load times.
The only game of the 7 I own where loading is even a thing I noticed is Wipeout. Each race takes about twice as long as you think it should to load. You can browse track data and rankings while you wait, though.
I don't see the framerate issue with Wipeout. What you saw on the demo is what it is throughout. It's not 60 and for some people I think that's a bug deal.
Then they should squash it.
Wipeout with slow load times... reminds me of the PS3 one.
So with people saying it's the memory cards that are the issue does that mean we should avoid digital versions of games?
