So where were these whiners with the PS1, N64, DC, PS2, and GC? I guess Sony should have done some half assed thing like the 4GB 360 to have some useless amount of on board storage just to shut the idiots up.

I wish they had 64 gig cards now.
Ditto
The PS1, N64, DC, PS2, and GC existed under different circumstances. Did the PS1, and N64 launch at a time when cheap flash memory was readily available in an affordable format? In regards to the DC, PS2, and GC era I remember a lot of people bitching about the cost of memory cards and it's why cheaper 3rd party ones sold so well. It doesn't change the fact though that the Vita launched at a time when cheap flash memory is readily available, in a format that almost every media device out there supports. Who doesn't own an SD card or two in this day and age? Pretty much every phone out there except Apple's supports them, pretty much every digital camera except the high end DSLRs support them, they're just every where.
Yeah, there was plenty of bitching about PS2 memory cards. They were $35 for 8MB.
So then you have no foothold in reality, especially when the inferior in every way 3DS XL hardware is $225 with 4GB. To balance a $200 Vita with built in memory, it would need to be $125 or $150 with the CPP.
It's not a price per MB value issue or whatever, it's buying extra super-specialized crap at all. Remember how much you loved to jack off about how you could just grab a regular PC HDD and stick it in your PS3 but to upgrade the 360's you had to buy MS' special version? This is a lot like that.
SD cards are everywhere. A lot of people into electronics likely already have a bunch floating around. Yes, Sony is using them to help make up for the cost of the system, but people don't want to buy random shit with no other use when they're already buying an expensive new piece of equipment. The same thing happened with the PSP, this is not new.
I fully recognize that, but what separates the "a lot like that" from "exactly like that" is that MS just took regular HDDs and put a housing on them to gouge people. At least Sony had a somewhat legitimate security approach/reason.
I understand what "people want," but my point is that a lot of that is emotion and not any kind of holistic analysis. Anyone who ever pirated a PSP game should really STFU about the Vita cards, since they helped push Sony to them as well.Quote:
