Is it the fastest hedgehog alive, the sideburned jumpsuit sporting monkey prince, or... umm... Opa Opa (whatever the hell he/she/it is).
I'm going with Opa Opa... he's just damned iconic in a surreal kinda way, and the original arcade Fantasy Zone is one of the best shmups ever
Opa-Opa. The lack of personality gives him a mysterious charm. He's nicely designed, too.
Sonic, obviously. Not that I don't like Opa Opa, but he's a second stringer. Alex Kidd is a bench warmer.

Now that's one incredibly difficult question. I love all three.... you can't go wrong either way. Sonic is the obvious and most deserving answer, so he should win in a landslide. He's been in over 10 brilliant classic games. Alex Kidd games were hit and miss, though Miracle World is an all time classic. The Fantasy Zone games were all really good too, and it's really cool that OpaOpa showed up in other games as well... I think I'll vota Opa just because Sonic will probably win anyway.
I'd really love to see OpaOpa and Alex Kidd make a comeback. :)
