I wondered when they would do this. My friend just let me know about Prime and so I went looking and found out it's obviously more than just those two, but those are the ones that are really exciting to me.
He mentioned that it should be available in Japan on Thursday, so hopefully we will be getting this soon. I would love to go through Prime 1 and 2 again with the excellent controls from 3. Very good news.
Hey, cool, Chibi-Robo gets a re-release. I might try playing Prime again if it's got a better control scheme, but Chibi-Robo always deserved better attention that it got.

There was some video released on the Japanese website, I think I posted it in the Wii thread.
Not only are they adding in the Prime 3 controls but also giving them true widescreen support. I've said from the first day they showed the Wii controller, that I would re-buy Prime 1 and 2 with those controls and I plan on it. Unfortunately NoA is being a bunch of douchebags and haven't announced the release date for the games here in the US yet. Fuckers need to get ontop of that.
For me Prime 1 is still one of the top 5 games I've ever played, and I was about to go through another play through of it, but I'm now waiting on these.
I finally got another Prime 3 (the one I bought in 2007 was defective so I only played an hour or so into it then) and I'm really liking it now that I'm past the initial crap. The new controls are a big improvement so I'm interested in replaying Prime 1 with them although it kind of makes me wish I sold my original when it was worth something.
I really hope they don't screw up the re-releases, especially Pikmin 2 and Jungle Beat. Those were my two favourite GC exclusives and I would love for more people to play them.

I don't care about Nintendo's finances but I like the idea of games being re-released in general. It doesn't seem to harm the music or movie industries which do it more often. I wish Sega would put Jet Grind Radio on Wii or another system so more people could experience it.
True, but The Chronicles of Riddick (great game, BTW) is being released with enhanced graphics, multiplayer and an entirely new campaign next month. You would think with twice as much power under the hood Nintendo could make the graphics much better since they're still 480p (which the originals were, IIRC). And I doubt that even though Prime 1 and 2 combined will fit on a single-layer DVD, they will not be packaged this way.
I had a lot of fun with Prime 1, but I never finished the second one. I didn't like it as much and the life-sapping game mechanic always puts me off because it seems to discourage exploration.
Cosmic Smash would probably be small enough for Wiiware, would love to see that return in some form.
There was some weird effect that gave a lot of people motion sickness in the first Prime, myself included. The Retro guys figured it out and adjusted accordingly for Prime 2. Any word if they're going to address that here? I love Prime 3's controls and would definitely give Prime 1 another shot with them if it wasn't going to make me feel weird.
