Question for you 1080p gamers

I know there's a thread around here about HD gaming, or at least I think there's one, but I obviously suck at searching because I can't find it.

Currently have a 32" 720p LCD HDTV, and thinking about maybe going a bit bigger (40" or 46"). As far as Xbox 360 and PS3, since a lot of games run at either 720p native or close to that, my 720p TV is a nice match. How are things when you step up to 1080p? Is it a noticeable difference, or between the scalers in the consoles and the TV, do things typically turn out okay?

I also have heard that some console games do run better when set to output 720p versus 1080p. If I were to get a 1080p set, should I run in 1080i instead of 1080p for gaming? Or am I going to be mostly okay just running straight 1080p?

I just naturally expect the Wii to look shitty no matter what kind of HDTV I'm running, so I'm not even bothered to be concerned as far as that goes. The bump up to 1080p would be nice for Blu-ray, but I'm a bit concerned on what the end effect on gaming might be.

1080p all the way. I've never noticed a game running worse in 1080p so go for it. Like anything some games look better than other. The few games that are 1080p native and not upscaled look steller! Blu Ray 1080p is also a MUST. A tv that also runs at 120hz is a thing to see, especially for the blu rays. It is ridiculous.

Long story short. 1080p KICKS ASS!

Your game is no worse for the wear when you play it in 1080p. Granted the difference between 720p and 1080p is far more subtle than 480 to 720, but it's still an improvement.

120hz is fucking ridiculous, my set doesn't have it, but fuck!

I do VGA with my 360 to 1080p (Only because when I do hdmi it does GROSS audio lag)
I do hdmi with my PS3 to 1080p for Blu-Rays and... it plays games right?

120hz is pure sex.

INDEED. I don't like it so much for some games but with blu ray is looks almost too good. If thats possible.

For Blu Ray it looks like they're in your fucking house. Hell Circuit City had Monsters Inc on regular def looking good in 120hz too.

The scenes filmed in IMAX for The Dark Knight are RETARDED looking. Seriously its boner exploding real.

120hz interpolation just sounds... ugly to me. With games and not movies, at least. I think I'd turn it off if I had a 120hz set.
