I agree, it's appears that they have paid attention to what Netflix has done with movies and are leading the charge with streaming gaming in the same fashion. I haven't gotten one yet but they surely have my attention.

I tried the service out on my (shitty) PC, and I'm amazed at how well it actually works. Sure, the resolution isn't super high, but the detail is much better than my pc could do on its own. I'll probably mostly use it as a demo/rental service. I'll have to look up and see if it's possible to use the console on my old monitor with a couple of adapters.

You sure both promos are able to be combined? If so, instant purchase! Though I may end up grabbing Homefront instead of Duke given the awful, and not even mediocre, reviews it's been getting. I admittedly, I still haven't even sunk much time into OnLive yet. It's one of those services where there's so much I want to play, but not stuff I've been aching to play, so I jump from game to game for a limited amount of time. I think the first thing I may end up playing through is FEAR 2, I always loved the atmosphere of the first one, and it's a game I never got around to playing.

It's great to see the service picking up some steam (no pun intended). It was a crazy idea when it was first announced, something no one thought could be possible given network and technology limitations 2 years ago, but has really turned into not only something that's a fantastic service, but one that's doing some awesome, very forward thinking integrations into platforms the big 3 will never be able to penetrate in such a huge way. Kudos to the people who put this service together, they deserve it to succeed if they keep on making these types of decisions. This is what I always envisioned the Phantom to be like, except this isn't shitty!

Ended up getting Metro 2033. Don't really need another racing game even with the kickass coupon. I will order the mini-console as soon as the coupon is available.

The demo of Armageddon was definitely fun, haven't played the full game though.

Yeah, I played my 30 min of that already and I enjoyed it. I'll have to devote a half hour to Homefront later and see what I think about that. But if anyone knows that either gets progressively better or worse past that first half hour I'd love to know.

I think I saw one of the Mog's playing Armageddon on 360, they could help with that one. And K3V definitely has Homefront.

I played through Homefront and enjoyed it. Never really got into the multiplayer though. Working on Red Faction now, the destruction mode is the shit.

Picked up Braid and The Ball, the rest of the games I want are already in the playpack. They did add Homefront multiplayer to the playpack though, so if anyone wants to play I'd be interested in trying it out.

Yeah, I don't see how this isn't an instant "GET NOW" if you have OnLive. The PlayPack in itself is a great deal if you haven't played the few big name games on there, and it's really just $9.99 for a full game. And since the first month is free, you get a free month and a free game.

With that said, I just ordered my second microconsole. I'm not sure if I'm going to give it to a buddy or use it for my bedroom, either way, I love free stuff.

This deal doesn't work with the console, does it? Or are you just talking about something else that's getting you a free one?

Different deal, I got the deal with purchasing Split/Second for 100% off a game or console. So I'm using that to grab a console and this deal for a game.

I really love it. It has some minor issues (typing lag in forums) that I believe are Honeycomb related that I'm sure will be fixed with OS updates. Besides that, I'm really happy with it. I hardly use my PC since I got this thing. Streaming movies and music from the PC and playing emulators with the Wii remote are extra bonuses and way more fun than they should be. My newest addition is ScummVM which runs amazingly well. I haven't picked up the keyboard attachment yet but I will soon enough and with that comes double the battery life and extra usb and SD ports. Overall I am more than satisfied.

Now I'm just waiting for more details about OnLive and how things will work. I'm really interested to see if your account will sync between your PC or Micro console and your tablet. If that is the case will the controller work between the setups? I've been keeping my eye on the info but I haven't seen those details yet.

I wasn't positive but I thought that is what I read and that is why I chose to wait. Obviously using a tv screen will be the most ideal setup but having the tablet readily available for trips and other things of that nature will be fantastic.

No. Fear 3 from what my customers say is shit. Darksiders is pretty good, but can be had for nearly free.
I kinda liked what I played of guerilla.

Darksiders was $5 on PC the other day.

I've got pretty much all the games I'd want to play on the service already and the code expires on Saturday so my options were pretty limited.

I haven't played 3, but lots of people don't like the FEAR games just because it's not COD/Halo/Gears. Nobody (outside of a few TNLers) appreciates a good 1 player FPS anymore.

Fear 1/2 were more viseral. Personally, I like the combat way more than HL. But then again, I never hold HL in any high regard. It is a good game but highly overrated.

Doom would be a good substitute for Half-Life in the above discussion as well.

I'm not sure which you guys are referring to, but the original HL was revolutionary for its time (although the final level was complete trash even when it launched). HL2 only had about a year of "actual" development time spent on the game which is why it's a long boring mess of nothing going on for the middle half. But the beginning and end and episodes are really great!

It is a lot better, both technically and in execution with comparatively amazing AI. The levels, however, are much blander with way too much environment repetition. I could never remember what level I was on in the original.

Doom is the best FPS ever! It is probably my most played 360 game, seriously.

To be fair, I didn't play either of the Half Life games until long after release, so being revolutionary didn't matter to me. I have been thinking of getting the Orange Box and giving HL2 another go.

Cloud gaming is a cool idea, but I like to have physical media in my hand. It can be resold if I get stuck/sick of it, and in 10 years when Onlive is out of business and I still want to play the games, I won't be fucked for things I already payed for.

When I'm paying nearly nothing for the games, not having them in 10 years doesn't really effect me at all, and by that time I should be able to get the games for pennies. Plus the convenience and price outweigh the fact that I don't have the physical media in my hands.

Also, screw $5 Fridays today, I already have Darksiders :(

Beefy: I like to think of Onlive as an extended rental service. I generally only play games on it that I am interested in but not enough to buy on the PS360, and they run ridiculous specials often enough to only spend $5-10 per game, even on fairly new stuff.

Has anyone else been having issues with their controller constantly disconnecting from the microconsole?

I don't have that issue, but my microconsole cannot be connected to power when turned off, or it will melt my TV stand.

Yeah I emailed them about the controller connectivity issue and asked them about the constant heat rising out of mine as well. They said the heat was normal and asked me to send them a picture of my gaming set up so they could try to determine the controller issue...

Mine is supposed to arrive tomorrow.

Not very often, they haven't really added any full releases since I joined about 2 months ago. They did add in Fear 3 & Homefront multiplayer and Deus Ex (original).

They added new games a few weeks back, most notable was Puzzle Quest. Tends to be older games and casual stuff added to the PlayPack usually, with the newer trend of doing the multiplayer for bigger games like Homefront and FEAR 3.

They added Just Cause 2 to the playback, which I am enjoying.

It's been on there for a while now, it totally kicks ass though.

Yeah, those are actually 2 of the reasons I decided to subscribe to the PlayPack. They have been on there since I started using it at least.

The latest email I received back suggested that in order to problem shoot why my controller keeps dropping that I need to try the console away from my speakers because that is what they suspect is causing the interference. This seems ridiculous considering that I have two other consoles which function just fine in the same location.
