Passover Coke time

It's made with cane sugar and tastes like what Coke is supposed to taste like. I'll probably be buying a dozen bottles next time I'm at the supermarket. It's time to get while the getting's good! :D

I've never really hunted hard for it up here, but I've been aware of it every year and never once have I just stumbled across it. There's a convenience store in Allston that has Mexican Coke in big glass bottles all year, so I don't really feel the need to seek this out.

Is high fructose corn syrum made with leavened bread or something? I don't understand why this exists for passover's sake.

Me neither, honestly, but I'll take it! The one Mexican store near me keeps odd hours and only has Mexican Coke in smaller bottles at $1.75 apiece. Admitted, it's always nicer to drink out of glass than plastic, but I'll take two liters for roughly the same price anyway.

If they did that, though, they would be conceding that their regular drink is an "inferior" product. It could be damaging to admit that they are compromising the product.

Nice, I'll have to pick some up. I've had soda with cane sugar before (Boylan's) and it's really a noticeable difference, there isn't a syrupy aftertaste.

The wheat flour used in making matzo is a special kind that has had a rabbi overseeing it throughout the entire process (you can buy this flour to make matzo yourself at home). The problem with corn-syrup is that it is made from a grain that has not been overseen by a rabbi, so potential it could have become leavened at some point (if any moisture got in with it. As a result, some Jews avoid eating any food not specifically marked as Kosher for Passover (KfP).

So, Coke could get a rabbi to ensure that a special batch of corn-syrup is KfP. Or, they could find some cane sugar that is by default KfP and be done with it.
