Cat in the Brain Trailer: Warning!! Not Safe For Work!!! (Gore + a few naughty bits)
Lemme know how Rodan/Gargantuans holds up, I may be looking to continue this Toho thing beyond just the Godzilla movies. (I think I've got 2 or three I don't own yet... anybody know if Godzilla vs. Megalon ever got released on DVD? Had to bootleg Biollante...)
Oh, and was browsing Half Price books and came along one of my favorite stories as a kid. Its the English Translation of the story 'Tsuru no Ongaeshi' (The Crane Maiden)
Awesome watercolor art w/ a neat, yet unnerving Japanese folktale type story

From an Amazon reviewer:
Quote:
"Long years ago, at the edge of a small mountain village in the snow country of Japan, there lived an old man and his wife. They had little in this world that they could call their own, but they were happy in their life together."
A fairy tale typically involves people who need help. This couple does not. They are happy just as they are. But one day the old man releases a crane from a trap because his "heart was touched with pity." At home he tells his wife and she replies, "That was a good deed. Surely the gods will one day reward you for your kind heart." And so they do, for at that moment comes a knock at the door. It is a beautiful young girl who has lost her way.
She remains with this childless couple, bringing such joy into their lives. One day when they have completely run out of money, she weaves for them the richest cloth imaginable. Her only instruction is that they not watch her weave. They obey, she weaves the cloth, and he sells it for an exorbitant sum, following her instructions.
Then there is need for more money. As she weaves this time, friends gather. One asks why can't you watch her. The old woman says, we aren't supposed to. Well, if she were my daughter, I would watch. The old woman loses control of herself and peeks through a crack.
The spell is broken and the girl must leave. Look carefully at the illustration and you can figure out what has happened.
Please listen to a description of the illustrations. They are all watercolor, pulsing in hues of blues, greens, violets, lavenders, pinks throughout the white snow and sky. When the crane is freed, she flies into a violent, lavender, greenish sky. The girl at the door is wearing a white garment brushed with the same hues as the sky. The room where the crane is weaving is filled everywhere with blues, pinks, purple, lavender, a touch of yellow. When the crane flies away, the sky is filled again with those colors, but this time overpowered by red-orange slashes. The illustrations are absolutely exquisite. Make of their meaning what you will.
The very nice Decemberists album "The Crane Wife" covers simliar ground, also.
If you are interested, tou better snatch Rodan up quick as it's already OOP. BestBuy has it for 14.99, but most other places are already out of stock.
Megalon was released on a crappy double feature w the smog monster. Its also on mystery science theater Vol 10, but you have to deal with the commentary, both are OOP
Biollante has not been released yet in R1
Rock, I'll grab Rodan very soon.
My Biollante copy is decent (I think it's off the Japanese laserdisc based on the trailers and cutscenes playing directly after the credits), so I'm set for that at the moment.
Might have to bootleg Megalon, then.
Sandwich.
