He gave you a joke answer but I'm going to give you the real one. We've been awesome but we've also been lucky. Our pitching has been just good enough and our hitting has been smoking hot, but we remember when our offense couldn't hit a beach ball, and we worry that Mr Hyde will shrink back to Dr. Jekl at any time. The farther into the season we get the more confident we'll become, but right now we have Halladay and 4 no-name dudes who have pitched way above their pay grades. When we get guys back in the rotation, if the hitting stays lukewarm at worst, THEN you'll see confidence.

Plus the Yankees have gotten into the habit of lowering expectations early in the season and then storming back in the second half, and who knows what the Rays will do, so ya, we're Canadian.

Is the Toronto stadium always as empty as tonight? Jeez, you guys are in 1st place and playing the Yankees and there's no one there.

They all went to last nights game. They average between 16 and 24 grand normally. Last night they got 44 grand. Still not a sellout, but pretty damned good by normal standards.

And nobody believes it will last. So the casual fans haven't started to come back yet. And the strike really killed a lot of support in the area. I mean like killed it dead.

He's right. Toronto fans have been burned badly in the last few years and are still sour after the strike.

If they prove they're for real the fans will come back.

I've been advocating this for years now. He's a punk, he sets a horrible example for young players on the team, and he gets opposing teams fired up to beat the Mets. The Cardinals chanting "JOSE REYES!" after beating the Mets in 2006 was when everyone should have realized how much of a detriment he is. Or the Marlins mocking Reyes as they killed the Mets the past few Septembers, saying that keeping Reyes out of the playoffs was like winning the World Series to them. He's as big a cause as any for the losing culture in the Mets clubhouse. Omar needs to get over his racial biases and trade Reyes for Halliday immediately if he wants to change his team's culture and win.

The Dodgers beat the Phillies 9-2. So, I guess we helped the Mets out today :)

Tomorrow's game should be good...Chad Billingsley vs. Cole Hamels.

Hamels had too big an innings jump last year and he's paying the price. The Dodgers will kill him.

The sox rotation will correct itself with time, there is too much talent there, and far too many options for them to not find a combination at some point that's lights out.

I'm also not entirely convinced a healthy Blue Jays team is gonna drop off the face of the standings. It'd be nice to see them stick around.

They do storm back in the second half, but their margin of error gets smaller and smaller as time goes on and the division improves.
