This board is filled with veterans, I would say the success of Tnl is due to the death of he old gamego! boards. But its almost 8 years since then. Yet new users a rare. Where a bunch of big assholes, and new people rarely last..
what can tnl get more users to join? and bring some new blood to our established community.
I blame the moderators. I see new users joining all the time. Sometimes they even offer the community really great deals on certain items for sale, but then some big, bad mod comes along and kicks them out. I'm guessing because they want to keep the deals to themselves.
I want an iPhone for $39.

I don't think people here are terrible but they aren't kind, especially to new users. Have you ever met someone in real life who throws their opinion around like it's the only truth in the universe? Like he's a decent guy but sometimes gets on a high horse and gets really vindictive if you disagree? That at the end of any one of these tirades he's still good at heart? The friend you have that you have to assure other friends "no, really, he's not always this bad?"

Why do you want to meet new people here? You could do that somewhere else.
Outside of the political discussions, I never felt that the TNL community was all that intimidating. You just have to recognize from the get-go that it's a tight circle of familiarity, and that if you just try to brazenly insert yourself everywhere it's going to end in disaster. Of course, I was forewarned and acted accordingly. Reading the Wiki also helps.
In the end, it just comes down to wheter or not you possess the sort of personality that allows you to "get" the humor of the situation without accumulating too much sand in your twat. If you do, you'll be alright. If you don't, you'll walk away offended. Barring some sort of restrictive rule that prevents the cool kids from picking on the noobs, I don't see any way of changing that.

Seriously though, this forum is fantastic, even though the population of consistently active posters has really dwindled. I miss a lot of old posters that are still MIA.
I have joined dozens of other forums around the net for just about every topic I am interested in: video games, music, hockey, other sports, politics, books, art, literature, funny shit, whatever, and they're all fucking impossible to read. It's like trying to read old AOL chatroom logs with huge, obnoxious signatures marring everything. The number of intelligent (or at least intelligible) posts that TNL gets in a day probably outstrips that of hundreds of forums combined.
