You guys can believe this or not, but the reason I haven't talked about this game today is that I am fairly superstitious, and I smelled a Brodeur shutout after the way Game 4 ended. I'd rather be right than believed honestly, so I'm happy either way.
That said, that almost has to be the best regulation time goaltending duel I've ever seen. The only game I can recall being comparable was a multi-OT game in 1996 between Patrick Roy and John Vanbiesbrouck that ended 1-0 to finish the Finals. Both goalies faced 50+ shots in that one. What an amazing, amazing performance. Tripp Tracey, the Hurricanes color guy tried to jinx Brodeur by saying "SHUTOUT, SHUTOUT" multiple times even. But then, late in the third, he called it a performance that only Brodeur could deliver.
I was able to catch parts of the end of the Pittsburgh game during commercials, and Crosby, by the letter of the new rule enforcement for the playoffs, should be suspended a game. He took a slashing penalty and a cross checking penalty in the last five minutes of the game, the latter of which was with 37 seconds left. No one can convince me that it was any different in terms of "message sending" that Lucic or Carcillo. Time to step up, Campbell, you worthless Ranger piece of shit.
Didn't see the play, but Campbell played for Penguins, Oilers, Canucks, and Red Wings over an 11 year career. He's not a fucking Ranger, and I don't care if he coached the team (albeit to a winning record) for a few seasons.Quote:

Didn't see Crosby's plays, but after the way Dubinsky got cross checked over and over without a single call it's clear that the NHL wants Ovie and Cindy in the Eastern finals. Avery's penalties were just that, but the rest of the officiating in this series is just beyond awful.
Weirdness in Anahiem tonight. The glass between the two benches exploded causing a 15 minute delay while they found something to replace it. Joe Thorton meanwhile appears to think he's a Duck, as he's set up two beautiful Duck goals.
It was nice to see Marty's best postseason performance of all time in person. Jesus christ it was an intense game. We drank afterwards to calm down.
Nabokov v. Turco last year in quad or triple OT or whatever was also awesome goalie wise, but Marty fucking beasted it out like I have not seen tonight. Some really unreal saves off his feet.
btw, that is in my opinion. He's been on the losing end of some fantastic games and he's had some other fantastic games, but it's tough trying to top this. He made a slew of incredibly difficult saves even if they weren't especially flashy.
I only saw the third period because of my daughter's play, but Ward and Brodeur were both out of control.
How about those Ducks?
I'm glad the Flyers extended their series. The longer the better.
