2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs

My first thought on this madness is sorry for ya Cow for witnessing the end of my love for the game. I will watch NJ till MY time runs out but this was a terrible end to a promising season. And for all the comments on Marty, bottom line TWO of the Canes goals were scored off their secret weapon's leg....Mike Motteau! It only takes a couple inches of redirecting to throw off a goalie's perception of the puck traveling. But the Devils, no wait that fucking wimpy coach Sutter way over played his top line in the end and they had no gas. Rolston is a soft, Zubrus is terrible and the defense can't play a solid 60 min game. They played hard last night but where was White and Martin the last 3 mins of the biggest game of the season? As for the rest of the NJmetro area (hey we play in Newark now) we all got lots of holes to fix but NJ should do only 3 things...get Lemaire back now that he's available, find a REAL top line defenseman, and have Zubrus involved in some off season "accident" so NJ can end his contract and use it to sign or re-sign their needs. Fuck the lucky Canes, fuck the Pens, and the rest of the Eastern Conf. and lets all just embrace our repeating Stanley Cup Champs (which l predicted in the preseason). As you can see l won't mention the refs because unfortunately nothing will change with it so all us fans will have to just open wide and take it. So while I'm at it, fuck Bettman too. Peace and who has teams left in the playoffs good luck and have fun. Go Devils...still and always.

Allow me to add myself to the TNL hockey club as a Blue Jackets fan. Mason is a stud and Nash is underrated.

Went to my first NHL game this year. I will make the trip to C-bus at least 5 times a year.

You can't tell me the Rangers team deserved to be in the playoffs. Lundqvist was the only reason they were anywhere at all.

Yeah, he's good. He STILL has a weak high glove. I'm sure if you read "the book" on Lundqvist, it would say "Shoot high glove."

Meanwhile if you read "the book" on Marty it would say "Try for deflections and hope for the best."

Lemaire can't come here. His system has no place in post-lockout NHL, and even if it did we wouldn't be able to play it with this defense.

The Devils' seven-game loss to the Carolina Hurricanes produced the team's highest television rating for a first-round series in 12 years.

MSG Plus averaged a 1.36 rating (101,100 households) for the seven games. Game 7 drew a 1.64 rating, tying with Game 3 of the series, for the Devils' highest rating since Game 5 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series with Toronto on May 5, 2001 (1.74 rating).

Like I said a couple posts ago, Lundqvist is a reactionary goalie. If he's going to play that way he will need to have a team that will keep the short shots to a minimum. He a big fucking dude. He should play out of his net more. It's rare to see him more than two feet from the goal line.

Marty is a great initial shot goalie, but gives up a lot of his goals on rebounds. Is that his fault, or the fault of the team for not corraling the rebounds? I'm not going there but Marty has faults as well.

I agree with Biff. Roy was an asshole. I watched a highlight from the Avs/Wings series in '97(?) with the bench clearing brawl. From out of the fram you see Roy skating in and just as quickly getting taken down. It looked like him and the Redwings player hugged in mid air. Classic shit.

Haoh, I'm not quite sold on a Vancouver win in the series. We split the season with them. They've also had a long enough time off and sometimes that bites teams in the ass. We also finally kicked it into high gear and the young kids seem to have gotten rid of their first playoff jitters. I'm just hoping it's at least half the series the first round was.

We'll just have to agree to disagree and it's probably not the best time to have a debate about this kind of shit, anyway, being that our teams just got bounced.

Doc and Chico were really upset at the conclusion of the game. Clearly, neither of them thought the Devils would lose and they certainly didn't see them losing that way. I hope it doesn't haunt the franchise.

Sutter's leash has to be growing short. The guy hasn't gotten it done (past the first round two years in a row) and regular season banners are meaningless. The question is, however, how to measure him next season when he's clearly decent during the regular season.
