Swearing in Nintendo DS Scrabble 2007 (UK version)?

A mother in the UK bought her son the Scrabble Interactive 2007 Edition for Nintendo DS as part of a 2 for 25 quid deal at an Asda store. The game is rated PEGI 3+.

The AI-controlled character Camilla used the word "fuckers" to win the game with a Triple Word Score. Here the word is defined as having a similar meaning to "chavs". UbiSoft distributes this particular release of Scrabble, and they do say that there's a Junior mode to prohibit swear words. Other words thrown down by CPU players included "toke" and "shit", though toke can mean tipping the dealer at a casino.

Was it a used game though? Maybe users are able to add words to the game.

If a game is about words and has a "junior mode", then deductive reasoning should tell you exactly what will happen if you don't enable it.

using the word "fuckers" to win the game is what makes it the best.

True. She should've checked the game out with her son before he could start playing it, then maybe she'd have noticed the Junior mode in the options menu and turned it on.

I'm thinking this game could still have been new in the package and priced for clearance.

I think its understandable that a parent wouldn't check for adult content in a scrabble game, but that doesn't mean that outrage is warranted.

But now he knows the swears, and the damage is irreversible!

I actually recall yahoo scrabble cursing quite a lot when i played it at work.
