With the internet filled with so much free content, legal or not, I was wondering if anyone here has ever stolen anything?
We've all stolen our fair share of music, movies, apps, at one time or another (usegroups ftw), and we've all probably snuck into the movie theater, or at least movie hopped once in our lives. And while we tend to feel like those are gray areas, it's a clearly a form of stealing.
A good while back I would go to ebgames when they used to sell used PC games on the floor, and I'd look on the back of the jewel case and write down the serial to numerous games (mostly EA).
However, have any of you ever crossed that line into stealing something physical and tangible? By accident? On purpose? when you were younger? yesterday?
I can remember stealing a piece of broccoli from the produce section of Stater Brothers when I was about six, and feeling insanely guilty about it later. I didn't like broccoli, but the fact that I took it and I knew it was wrong made me feel like shit. Yet there are friends of mine that have no problem going into somewhere, trying on a shirt, putting their shirt on over it, and walking out.
I've been thinking about it today, because a friend from one of my classes came up to me and mention how there was a nice bike next to his without a lock on it, and how easy it would be to steal it. And I will admit that I often walk by bikes not locked up, or open top parked convertibles and think about how easy it would be to steal the bike, and steal from inside the convertible.
