Are you going to visit the battlefields, or do you have a particular interest in Native Americans? Or is Pine Ridge secret access to the Badlands?
I look forward to being able to visit the Dakotas again sometime in the future.
Despite the history of conflict with Natives, the whole region just seemed incredibly pure and peaceful
he usually does :(
A group from my school, well a few small group, will be going to focus on different projects there. My group, dealing with broadcast/journalism, will be focusing on 2 projects. My friend will be doing a documentary for her senior project on the understaff, underpaid, yet highly appreciated EMT workers there. I on the other hand will be doing a photo essay. Really though, it is just an opportunity to build up my photography portfolio, though I'm sure the pictures will be used to build up awareness as well as maybe being used in the documentary.
The person in charge of the trip used to do similar things when he was a dean at the University of SD, so we have some contacts there that will be helping us around. We are gonna stay and the large and very nice Boys and Girls Club out there, get to attend a pow wow, and even a sweat lodge. Of course, I will get out to the Badlands and Black Hills when I get the chance. I'm really looking forward to it. Should be an amazing trip and experience and should get some amazing photos.
I already have some pretty nice lenses, but my wide zoom lens is the kit 18-55, and while it gets the job done, I've been meaning to upgrade it for some time now. The 24-15 f4L is a great lens and offers a bit more range when needed.
That's sounds like it will be incredible. Especially being welcomed into some of the ceremonies like a pow wow and sweat lodge.
But come on, you can admit it, I think I found the real reason you're going:
it all comes back to videogames.Quote:
The 1992 video game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time included a Wild West level named "Bury My Shell at Wounded Knee".
