Just picked up the Wolverine game from Blockbuster. Still playing Earthbound and C&C:RA3. Nightly Gears.
C&C: RA3 (Chux rape), FEAR 2 on Hard, Bourne Conspiracy on Assassin (love this game), NHL 09, nightly Gears shenanigans, MLB 09 The Show, Resistance Retribution
I was playing a lot of Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad to unlock achievements, but the last few require replaying the game over and over on the higher difficulties, so I think I'm done with that game for now. I also started picking up Heavy Weapon again after Josh got me back into it. And of course, still slowly ranking up in Rainbow Six Vegas.
Nash have you played Bourne Conspiracy yet? It seems like the type of game you would enjoy (and I like it way more than Stranglehold).
I'm still playing Burnout. 98% completion with all smashes, billboards and jumps found. I need 1 more road rage, and 6 more races. 60hrs have been put into it.
Joust sent me Rainbow 6 Vegas, so I'll probably start that soon.

Fuck yes. Oratan online is amazing.
I'm making progress in STALKER, but the game creeps me out too much to continue sometimes. Like last night. :[
I'm slowly chipping away at tens in IIDX. I heard stories of really good players quitting this game for fear of carpal tunnel. At this point, I fucking believe it.
I kinda gave up on Etrian Odyssey II for the moment. Same old story; had to grind.
Burnout Paradise- 4 smashes and 2 jumps left to find and a few Stunt runs. I have around 200 challenges done (of 480?) I'd like to get those last single player bits done before the Island comes out.
Peggle- there are some brutal challenges, it's going to take awhile
Rez- I got to the last form of the last boss in the game going through Beyond mode, holy shit was that aggravating.
Dead Space- If RE5 didn't grab you or you want to play a better game than RE5, this is it.
Rock Band 2
Pure- such a good game.
Rented Excitebots, amazed that something so chaotic can work so well. Wish I could test out the online Poker mode though.
recently got stalin vs martians, I'm convinced it's the best rts ever by its trailer
So far I've been playing lots of Beats of Rage mods for Dreamcast.
I never bothered with it before, but the relaunch of dcevolution.net piqued my interest in DC homebrew.
I'll be finishing up Half-Life 2 for PC (thanks Dyne!) in the next week or so. I'm getting my ass kicked near the end of Nova Prospekt.
So far Wolverine is a nice diversion, it's bloody as hell too.
Still have a couple things to beat in Skate, I'm also trying to finish off the achievements in Samurai Warriors 2.
Also: Peggle. HEAVY WEAPON and I played N+ the other day but fuck that game.
Still playing and enjoying The Witcher as my main focus.
I gave a quick try to some $5 PS2 games I bought to make sure they work. I'll delve into them more later. One is Endgame, a gun game similar to Time Crisis. It kind of sucks: virtually no background interactivity, and the interspersed CG cinemas are horrendous artistically and look like they're from 1994 instead of 2002. Still, I'm not too fussy with gun games so I imagine it will be worth playing a little bit before ditching it.
The other PS2 game is The Red Star. I vaguely remember playing the XB demo back before it came out. It was getting overhyped when it looked like it was going to be cancelled but it seems like a solid shooter. Cannon Spike's probably more polished and intense as far as this type of game goes but I like what I played of Red Star so far.
I think I'll fire up Border Down tonight. Yoshi talking about it the other day made me want to play it again. Great game.
Yeah, Border Down is all I'm playing until my J'lite arrives, probably near the end of next week.
Dawn of War II (PC). Multiplayer is so much fun, and it keeps getting better with every patch.

FFIV DS
A little RE5 (meh.)
Retro Game Challenge - I just unlocked the third game and I'm loving every second of this.
MLB Dugout Heroes - It's flawed but I think it's still in open beta. I really hope they fix all the little bugs for the final release because I'm having way too much fun playing some short 3 & 5 inning games.
Death Smiles (360) has my full attention at the moment.
I'm jealous.Quote:

i fell out of earthbound, and am playing chrono trigger.
After years and years and multiple attempts, i swear i WILL beat this game this time.
Had the chance to play MadWorld, Tain I dunno what you're thinking, that game is well done and fun to play on every level.
Been playing Prime 3: Corruption and finally getting though it, and been playing a lot of Worms. Played with Josh a few nights ago, that was fun. I now understand a lot of the things I didn't before and it's a really well balanced fun game to play.
That being said, I'll probably be on after 24 tonight if anyone wants to play Worms (I dunno who has it so if you see me on send me an invite).
MadWorld's cool but I can see why some wouldn't like it. Dead Space is an another matter, though. What do you find so horrible about it, ARBM?
Not so sure about the Dead Space hate since I loved the demo (haven't played the full version yet). I will say that Stuntman Ignition was a shitload of fun, even though I was able to 4+ star everything in like 4 hours. Some of the perfect runs are just straight up nutty though, to the point where it made me not want to play the game anymore.
I actually find it harder to four-star stuff than five-star it. Four star demands a great score, and five just demands that you full-string the course; a crappy score doesn't exempt you from five stars. You can miss all but one of the director stunts and still string the level.
Senko no Ronde is a game more than it is a really shitty six hour movie that you waggle through.Quote:
You're the guy who really likes Senko no Ronde, right?
My condolences.
WHU-PISH
i'm probably not going to touch senko now that voot is on xbla :[
For
Real
The only reason to play Suntman is to 5-star levels. It requires planning and precision gameplay that is comparable to like, old Mega Man games to get a clean run through.
The only reason to try to deliberately 4-star a level and break the string deliberately is if you've played it way too goddamn much.
I can't tell if the gameplay is supposed to be subservient to the story or the story subservient to the gameplay. Like, which is the part I'm supposed to overlook and which is the part that I'm supposed to enjoy? The story was derivative and conveyed via that horrible Bioshock piecemeal narrative that seems to be all the rage these days, and the combat was like Resident Evil 4 on qualudes.
There's also a ton of excess like superfluous button-presses, obnoxious item indicators, and that goddamn shrill string-screech that heralds the arrival of every group of Clive Barker brain diarrhea monsters.
So I did not much like it at all! You know how we all love Silent Hill 2 even though it's kind of a disaster of combat and level design because the atmosphere and direction are so fucking great? To me, Dead Space is like that, only without that last part about the great atmosphere and direction.
The demo didn't do shit for me.
While I don't think Dead Space has a strong story, I like the "piecemeal narrative" structure in games when done properly. The idea of exploring to find story parts gives an interactive appeal you don't get while watching cutscenes.Quote:

I'm trying to get back into Assault Heroes since the last time I played it was when I first bought it in 2006, but now I know why I stopped playing it. I want to like it, but so much of it just annoys me --- the way the car controls, the slow pace, how you have to be near the top of the screen to scroll forward, the longer-than-it-needs-to-be levels, the ridiculously slow on-foot controls, etc. I'm going to go ahead and finish it up just because I paid for it, but I doubt I'll ever be going back to it. I thought this would be comparable to Jackal, too. Now that's a game that needs to come out for Xbox Live Arcade.
I've actually been spending a great deal of time on a site where you can create your own multiplayer games. It's called ChallengeYou, and it I'm spending a lot of time there (even when I'm at work). If you're interested here it is: http://www.challengeyou.com/
Ah, the inevitable spam at last!
Klonoa (Wii)- Beautiful but painfully easy.
Super Hang-On (Genesis)- Along with Space Harrier 2 the only 3D Sega title I've enjoyed on the Genny, very speedy with nice spritework and control. Always hoped Sega would give it a go on more recent hardware, the Saturn rev was a pretty thin package.
Out of this World (Genesis)- During the 16 bit days I got bored with this, no patience for the trial/error and memorization. Has held up surprisingly well, may have to check out Heart of the Alien.
Heart of the Alien definitely isn't as good as the original but I liked it. It wasn't made by the original creator but they imitated the style pretty well.
I have been replaying Pikmin 2, my favourite GC exclusive. I played through it in 2004 and this is my second trek through. So charming and addictive. If anyone here still hasn't played the Pikmin games, they're missing out big time.
I pulled Resistance 2 back out of my closet this weekend to work on finally finishing the single player. Playing an FPS with a pad is so damned painful, but at least the game is good. If I can will my way to the end, I may finally give Killzone 2 a try.
Ridge Racer 7--this series is so stale, I dunno why I keep playing it
Motorstorm 2--finally started paying this after buying it at launch. It rules like the first
Deathsmiles--awesome, can't wait for MBL even though I suck at the regular game
Going to start playing RFA again now that other people are ;p
Playing the following:
Gears (duh)
C&C RA3 (working on soviet campaign and skirmish)
Force Unleashed (meh, trade fodder)
Outrun arcade (meh)
And
Samurai Warriors 2 Empires. Best 10 bucks I've spent in a while, mixes just enough Romance of the 3 kingdoms and Nobunaga's Ambition with an improved battlefield model to hit my interest. So far have about 1/3 of Japan with Nobunaga and I having an all out war on the eastern front.
~ Crimson Tears ~
Always.
I forgot that a friend of mine gave me a copy of Ehrgeiz way back. I also bought Blood Will Tell from someone here a long time ago and forgot about that too. I will be playing these this month, I think!
I haven't given a shit about the Warriors games in years now, but from the sounds of it there's actually an element of strategy in where/how battles take place now rather than just playing through scenario after scenario? This interests me.
I got Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires, not Samurai Warriors Empires.
I've been waging an inquisition on my PS1 and PS2 libraries, playing games I haven't touched in ages (or at all), and throwing the ones that fail to captivate into a To Sell pile that's beginning to outgrow my closet. Silpheed, Tomba!, Blowout, Gungriffon Blaze, CastleVania : Lament of Innocence and Onimusha 2 are games I never should've owned in the first place, much less dragged from home to new home over the years.
I got to Devil May Cry last Friday and have been playing it ever since. This game just does so much right and so little wrong.
KOF SW2E is way better than DW.
And yeah grave you call all the shots.
Still trudging through Unreal 2. This game is too boring to complete within six years.
Also, I've been replaying Thief 3. I can't quite bear the Cradle this time through.
!
Crimson Tears are not as bitter as...my...own.
Ninja Gaiden - NES - I got to level 6-3 yesterday, and the boss killed me, which sent me all the way back to level 6-1. That was totally irritating, but I kept playing anyways because the gameplay mechanics are so damn addictive. Can anybody tell me why the NES Ninja Gaiden Trilogy has addictive as hell gameplay (its something about the way the game controls), yet they couldn't quite capture the same addictiveness with the new games?
All the Empire games are like that. You can even command your allied generals on the battlefield with simple orders like attacking/defending certain guys or forts. I'd recommend Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires over the Samurai one though. It's a better experience overall.
They're both from Tecmo but I think the staff is completely different. Plus I find 2d platform gameplay more appealing than 3d beat 'em up gameplay. I think Japanese developers are still perfectly capable of making something as awesome as the NES Ninja Gaiden Trilogy. If they would focus more on platform action instead of just combo hack 'n slashing, then they would be forced to put more effort into the level design.Quote:

What I mean by that last point is that even though the first two games are hard, you have unlimited continues to learn patterns, perfect your timing, etc. for the areas you're stuck on. In the third game, you have something like three continues and after that it's back to the beginning of the game. I still managed to finish it once, but having to play the game from the beginning each time I used up my continues was annoying.
The third game was actually vastly improved in the SNES release when it was made a bit easier. It really was waaaay too obnoxiously hard on the NES.
Its been a long time since I've played the third game in the Ninja Gaiden trilogy. I can't remember it that well, so it must have frustrated me to the point that I blocked it out of my memory.
Yeah, ummmm I remember back in the day when we got hundreds of brand new copies in of that game back when we were Cart-Mart. We even sold a bunch to Tom at VGD. They weren't THAT rare.
I never saw it in stores around here. I worked in one of the busyiest funcolands in the country when we were still getting in a ton of SNES stuff I never saw it come in in 3 years. While stuff like Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, hell Fox Hunt and that horrible Dragon Ball Z game on PS came in a couple of times. Really wish we had gotten a copy of it in. Hell my Tengen Tetris on NES I got from those days.
Yeah, NG3 was disappointing for being more of the same but not as well designed. I still think it's pretty good although I agree it's more frustrating. And SMS Ninja Gaiden is a quality game similar to the NES trilogy. Its cinemas don't have the same artistic flare as Tecmo's but they nailed the controls. It's not the best in the series but for those that missed it and want an old-school NG game, it's worth checking out (although I wish they didn't put those damn birds in it, no one liked those in the NES games).Quote:

Then I found out that you could walk right off of the ledge, instead of jumping, and a bird will fly up out of the bottomless pit, hit you, and knock you to the platform that you need to get to. Thats the only time those birds are actually worth a damn.
I want to believe this, but there is almost no supporting evidence. Hell, when you think Japanese games in that style these days, it's essentially Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry, but both are much more hack and slash than what you call platformer. Castlevania turning into an adventure game on a fucking portable certainly didn't help that situation either.
I think SoTN did that first actually....
Totally agree but on a God damned console!
Going back and forth with GTA4 and RE5. Already finished both games but I'm working on getting the rest of the trophies.
Samurai Warriors 2 still. I'm hoping to finish this fucking game soon so I can move on to something else.
don't play many games, and only been playing the UFC 2009 Undisputed demo on PS3 for the past few weeks ALOT. so obviously will be playing the full game next week when it comes out.
Eight more to go.
You Can Do It!
BALLER ALERT!
http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...687/ballin.jpg
:lol::lol:
I heard rumors there's some UFC game coming out, has anyone heard if it's any good?
I'm finishing up Fallout 3, I think I will probably get all the achievements except the 20 bobble heads because I blew up Raven Rock and missed that one. Then I need to finish up RE5.
Playing Ninja Five-O again, what a fantastic little game. I have never gotten past stage 2 before but I managed to do that with perseverence. This game is tough. Konami need to do another on XBLA/PSN.
Why would you put 146 hours into a game you don't like?
That's nothing. I put six years into a chick i didn't like.
Pending reviews this week, this list could expand:
I've been playing Punch-Out, RFA and for whatever reason had the morbid curiosity to try out The Sims 3 and played it for 4 fucking hours WHAT THE FUCK.
Girl
mainly DS titles. Dragon Quest monsters, Joker. Metal slug 7, and advanced wars, whatever. It was the last one.
beat the AW title. What an awesome game. I really liked the mad max metor story.
I've also been playing Operation Darkness for the xbox 360. It isn't as bad as people say, but isn't that great either. It is shining force / fire emblem for the 360 and not a thing more.
I rented The Bourne Conspiracy and really, really don't like it so far. I have yet to find a weapon, and I hate the Tekken-ish hand to hand fighting. I'm going to push on to see if it gets better.
The Boss fights are prolonged so you definitely won't like it. The game doesn't really improve. I loved it because I love the movies and you get to play all the missing scenes from the first movie (and the professor fight). It is not a great game I admit but I enjoyed it thoroughly.
The driving section was as lame as I thought (from the demo).
