The Star Soldier vid is amazing. TM's rate of fire is fast enough that just by the game action alone, it looks like someone using turbo.
I tried that hu-style shot counter and got a 96 - using 2 fingers rapidly alternating on a HRAP3 button, thanks to JoyToKey.
Certain bosses in Darius Gaiden go down hellishly quick if you get in close and spam missiles into their weak point. The missiles add up the damage fast when used like this.
Some expert players on the arcade Time Crisis 4 can fire the 9-round handgun at 12 shots a second, needing a reload after 3/4 sec. This is good especially for milking the Stage 2 boss and taking out Wild Dog's three electric wall trap quickly (time bonus).
