huh? Leave my shoes at the door?
I don't get it.
No, I love my Sega CD too.
However, the only first party published games I can think of that are worth a shit are: Batman Returns, Silpheed, Final Fight, and Sonic CD.
All the other noteworthy software trickled out from third parties.
It was clear that Sega was hardly going to (or didn't know how to) support the unit, and had no reservations about moving right on to 32X, which was doomed by equally abysmal support.
There's a couple strategy games, too, like Shining Force CD and Dark Wizard. Plus there's some enhanced versions of cartridge games like Spiderman and Ecco if you want to count those.Quote:

Whoops, forgot about Shining Force CD and Dark Wizard, and Eternal Champions CftDS.
I didn't forget about the "enhanced" carts, that was precisely part of my disdain for the support the system received. Recording shitty redbook audio for a game that had been available for months as a cart hardly satiated the promises of "Welcome to The Next Level".
I enjoyed Ecco, but was ultimately disappointed because the game really didn't offer anything substantial beyond what was already playable on the cart release.
There is no arguing against the presence of many quality games for the SegaCD. But do not forget what is was like back in '92-'94 when you had to wait months between quality releases, all the while reading about the revolutionary "next level" game experiences Sega was going to deliver (and never did) - then we get Chuck Rock with redbook audio, and Earthworm Jim with loading breaking up the flow if the levels...
The point is, it was no surprise to see Sega's lame support of 32x, Saturn, or dropping the Dreamcast in its prime. The writing was on the wall during the SegaCD era.
why does a console have to "hardcore" or "casual"? isn't that defined by the software? shouldn't even PS3-level hardware be cheap as shit now? it's three years old already.
i'm glad the console war is over.
yeah, Sega did walk all over me with their promises of "The Next Level",
but not as badly trampled as the purchasers of 32X.
