Metal Slug was the successor to Gun Force II after the team left Irem. They look and play almost identically, except GF2 has more of a futuristic theme and less cartoony characters. Right down to the hostage rescuing, riding in vehicles, etc.

I'll be damned. I don't recall ever having heard that before.
ugh, how the christ do you force a 60fps upload on youtube like that? I've only done it accidentally.
Anyway,Don't forget Bioshock!Quote:
(unless they're named Metal Slug)
Ah, good point, good point.
I think Halo should count too. Even though the Marathon games were pretty sweet in their own right.
Wasteland -> Fallout
I'm not counting shit by completely different people. I mean attempts by a game's creator to recreate their past success.
But yeah, I guess you have to have achieved a certain level of success to begin with for that to be difficult.Eh, Halo was originally an RTS. It was never really meant as a Marathon successor, it just sort of came out that way. Kinda.
Beyond Good and Evil actually did sell fairly well. The problem was, it sold well after it had dropped to $20...
Which was like 2 weeks after it came out. God Ubi is stupid. No one who fucks up these releases will ever admit it. Warner still insists Iron Giant was "too smart" for audiences.
