Circle of the Moon and Aria of Sorrow are really good Metroidvanias that actually offered a little more challenge than SOTN. Not saying they're impossible, but they're worth playing through.

I thought Order of Ecclesia added some much needed difficulty to the Metroidvania formula. It wasn't too heavy on gear/accessory/stat grinding and actually forced you to be reactive to enemy boss patterns.
That was the last one I played and by that time, I was honestly so burned out on the DS series that I traded it away.
I just played the LOS demo and I can safely say that I don't mind waiting till its 40 bucks and I am in a giving mood.
I would love to play the LoS demo but since I'm not a Gold Live user I can not. Fucking retarded horse shit.
