Walmart and Costco/BJs have some discounts, assuming they carry it.

I did indeed find it at Wal Mart (I need a shower). I'm absolutely not subscribing, and I'll tell you why. Amazingly, it is not because they wasted a ton of pages talking to that idiot hack David Jaffe. Nope, it's more subtle. On the previews for Transformers and Mafia II, they list the platforms as 360 and PS3. Incomplete. I thought to myself that I could live with it if they are going to stick to being a console-focused magazine. So I turn the page and see The Old Republic and Civilization IV, which are both PC exclusives that absolutely dwarf the importance of the previously mentioned (and promising) games. These two are crammed onto one two page spread, whereas every other game got at least two to itself. So the magazine doesn't get its facts straight (still) and can't decide whether it wants PC stuff in or out but knows that it doesn't want to treat it as important either way. Fuck off, EGM. Please die again soon.
After checking out and enjoying the stuff they are doing on the website I decided to subscribe.
1. I don't play games too often anymore. I find myself leaning more towards the oddball releases like 3D Dot Heroes and less towards the large AAA releases. Having a decent mag to browse through to find oddball games (3D Dot Heroes, Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom) is right up my alley.
2. Not focusing on PC games is a huge plus for me. I'm fucking old and I just can't get over the nightmares of the past where every new game turned into driver compatibility hell. I'm sure those nightmares are a thing of the past but I just don't care. I have more than enough gaming options without hooking my PC up to a tv. I also HATE the FPS genre. Let the crying begin.
3. Nothing beats having an actual magazine in your hands while you are sitting on the hopper/doctor's office/etc.
I just spent about a half hour reading it. Didn't even make it to the reviews section. I LIKE that. I get Game Informer, and that mag is done before I even think about wiping. Seems like a decent starting point. My only question so far is, how does "alwasy" make it past spellcheck?
I picked it up! (ol' Retro Gamer Vol. 2 is getting kind of stale, time for something else) Good magazine! I did notice a couple typos, oh well.
The SF article is a good read.
I hope they don't have ANY PC coverage.
I'm older than you and I can tell you one very important thing- adapt or buy a shiny new coffin. You don't want to be one of those people convinced that they're so incredibly stupid they can't even hook up a simple component cable, and reasoning like that is going to get you there fast. PCs aren't like that any more, that time is gone.
