Put Salinger in the search box.
I have no problem with the new book.
Let him publish it.
The article makes it seem like a bit of a parody, and he didn't even use the character's name.
I don't see any reason for censorship.
Salinger's been a prick his whole life. Also a failure as an author as he barely wrote fucking anything over the course of his career. Catcher is where any money he gets comes from, probably, and at 90 it's probably his family that wants to protect it more than anything else.
So, fuck Salinger. There's no reason for this to not get published, and I bet it'd only be good for Salinger to have Catcher back in the press for some reason. It's not like this guy edited the original book and is publishing it under the original name.
P.S. I'm sure the new book sucks balls so who cares anyway.
There is absolutely no reason this book should be blocked.
Christ, this guy can't even write a good pen name. That doesn't give me hope.Quote:
written by the Swedish author Fredrik Colting under the pen name John David California, is already on sale in Britain.
So... It's Catcher in the Rye fan fiction? Somebody scan this book and upload it in the usual place. I wanna read the chapter where Mr C teams up with Captain Kirk to seduce the Author.Quote:
The book features a character called Mr C — based on Salinger’s Caulfield — escaping from a retirement home aged 76
Anyway, shaky legal grounds to block this one.
I like Salinger. Franny and Zooey brought about the Royal Tenenbaumbs!
Why shouldn't his family want to protect Catcher? It doesn't mean they have a clear cut case on this instance, but shit, I don't see why they wouldn't give it a shot, if only to give this asshole some grief.
