Massive interview on this game is at IGN.
Short summary:
- Set in 3015, so Mechs will probably be precious and rare treasures.
- In development at Piranha Games, who don't exactly have the best track record.
- An "action-sim" - like MechWarrior 2.
- Uses UE3.
- In development for both PC and 360.
- Plans for co-op as well as a Conquest-style online mode similar to the short-lived Multiplayer BattleTech 3025, which itself was a successor of Multiplayer BattleTech Solaris.
- Plans for cross-platform online play.
So I'm definitely hyped, even though Piranha doesn't exactly have the greatest pedigree. It has been way too long since we've had a seriously excellent mech sim.
By the way, MechWarrior 4 (and expansions) are about to be released for free!

How do the games rank up to each other? I heard from a knowledgeable sounding dude that MW4 is pretty damn good, but my only experience with the series is messing with MW2 as a kid. I'm pumped to play 4 + expansions.Quote:

Mech 2 was fantastic, and if all they did was reskin it using current graphics I'd buy 3 copies.
Mech 4 was ok.
Mech 3 was actually pretty good, but they imposed restrictions on loadouts and shit, and when compared to 2 and Mercs 2 it was just a huge letdown. Still, I wish all Mech games had that mouse zoom that this one had.
