Ok, so who here has experience managing people?
What can you do to motivate them?
Get them to show up on time?
Put forth their best effort?
And how do you get all three, when Plan A falls apart?

be nice. Show thanks for the things they do. Tell them how great a job they are doing. Make them feel like you need them and they are part of the team.

See above. And bringing in a free box of donuts or the like helps to.

see first answer. Complement them when they do go beyond the call of duty.

Leadership in a business setting isn't that hard. People will go the extra mile if they believe in something and feel like they are part of something they respect.
It is also not that hard to fuck that up. Just be a piece a shit and you're well on your way. Get caught lying, or fucking others over and people will lose respect for you. If they lose respect for you, they will do just enough work to get their pay check.
to put it simply
to lead, be an adult
to fuck it up, act like a coward and a bitch.
Pay people a dollar more than the going rate and expect the best out of them.
I guarantee you IP has no experience managing people in a business setting.
Pretend like every employee is wearing a shirt that says "treat me like I'm special" and do it.
Work as hard as your people.
Let them slove their own problems as well.
Bet ya thought I'd say something different. Don't think for a second I treat my employees like I treat you queers.

Treat em like shit and make them think that at any minute the hammer could drop and they'd be out the door. Ingrain into them how utterly useless and replaceable they really are and that you have ten people waiting just for their job. Managers have to be like security guards at a concert. If they're nice, they'll get walked all over and eventually lose their own job.
