I used my other email account, probably for the best anyway since they're stupidly using email addresses as logins.
In more I can't win news, Stormbluff is full.
Should have bought it digitally you god damn retard.
Considering that someone tried to get my password before I even owned the game, I could've gotten banned if I had the game earlier. They only implemented their first security feature a few hours ago.
Plus I think I might be able to switch over during less populated hours, from what I've read.
ArenaNet just suspended digital sales of the game on their own website. This is to prevent the server situation from getting much worse as they upgrade infrastructure. You can still buy it through retail and other digital sites (if it's in stock).
Sales have exceeded estimates, apparently.

I kind of want to play this, but it looks like it's more of the same. Not entirely, but also not different enough I want to get into it.
It's still an MMO so I guess there's that. But it trims a lot of fat and has a really enjoyable focus on exploration that you don't often see outside of single-player RPGs! It really has its own identity.
My son has taken over the game. He's the theif/archer clad in green named Oliquen (get it?).
More focus on exploration? That does sound more fun! I mean it still looks like it plays like a WoW like MMO versus something like Tera etc which none of my friends played except Mech so meh.
Poor Mech
I meant to play Tera...but this came along.
I still have keys to ffxiv, tera, and rift to use.
I had a ton of fun with it and still drop in to blow shit up once in a while. I don't really expect people I know to keep playing MMOs past a month or two anyway.
I only played a free weekend of Tera but it felt like a super-traditional MMO with a nice battle system. Guild Wars 2 goes out of its way to shake up established conventions. Don't get me wrong, the PvE is still a content-focused theme park. It's just that the lines are really short and most everything is fun.
GW2's emphasis on exploration rather than rat-killing (though there's plenty of that) makes it just fresh enough in PVE, although the story elements are cool too (like a poor man's TOR).
The combat system is very good too. I was trying to do a mission and was getting stomped with a scepter+dagger combo I'm not familiar with. I switched it to a staff and it was far easier. Skill plays a large role here.
Can you solo it? One reason I didn't even try the first (aside from the low level cap and lack of demo) was I heard you were SOL if you didn't want to group.
Guild Wars 1 sucked. This game is much better and solo-able.
k. That and the exploration and the flower-picking have me sold.
Are you going to avoid the rest of TNL, or join them.
I was waiting to tell you this Mechdeus but suspicions confirmed.
I just got an email telling me the email associated with my account has been requested to be changed.
I've never signed up for anything Guild Wars 2 related (Like Firstblood said, just Phishing lists being updated).
The confusing part is all the links in the email appear to be legit. But I'm not clicking on the confirmation link.
When I logged on last night there was a Fitzcarald, I thought dave joined up and had to make concessions for his name, but no such luck.
OMG me too. Daved you should buy this or else.
I'm pretty sure it is a legitimate email. If they can't get into your GW2 account directly, I guess they'll try for your email account.
I already have unique passwords and 2-step verification so I'm not worried but ArenaNet can really use an authenticator right about now.
Possibly, doesn't make a whole lot of sense though since there was no account that existed for it.
I did go through ArenaNet's website and got a password reset email sent to me (even though the feature is disabled I found a way to force the email, but it still won't let you actually reset the password) and it's the same link. It's legit.
I finally transferred to Stormbluff, apparently 4pm was the magic time when servers were low. There were only three servers not full at like 9am, they are getting slammed in there.
This quest is a broken piece of shit:
Level 13 engineer. NPC's get wiped in seconds. Tried partying up with a level 21(cap, i know) Thief and we get raped. Even in the first wave. Anyone else get to this quest yet?
I got 2 email tonight from noreply@guildwars2.com which appears to be the real way Arenanet contacts you telling me that 1) someone tried to change my email (they actually used the sentence "hopefully you!") and 2) that my contact email address had been changed. Back to back in one minute.
I've never played Guild Wars or gone to their site of signed up for anything. WTF is going on with this game.
I just bought this game, I'm sure I will regret it.
Oh well downloading the patches now. I hope they implement an Authenticator soon though.
ThiefSilver.5302
Stormbluff is full RIGHT NOW.
WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS.
I guess the Rumors of Trouble instance is broken. Hopefully they fix it.
Hey I bought this game!
firstblood.7834
try to log in during non-peak hours (probably easier to do on weekdays) to get on stormbluff.
4 am is apeak hour?
GUILD WARS SON, FUCK WHAT YOU HEARD
Added U guys. I'm in Jade Quarry with the CoF.
That makes no sense. Oh well, I will transfer when I can. Was cross server guild invites a thing?
Yes it is. You just need someone with officer rank, like Artec.
I bought this primarily for PVP but havent done it that much after the first weekend. WvW kicks my ass now. Being low level is a disadvantage as far as I can tell. Plus the queues, good lord.
Spvp is surprisingly awesome. It needs more modes.
What's the set up for Spvp? I'd be down to give it a try. I'm gonna go watch a video of it but I'm curious what you're liking about it.
It's 5-on-5 (I think?) CTF. It's very fast paced - matches last only 5-10 minutes. Glory is fun to collect and you spend it on goodie bags.
I like it because the combat system is very deep and teamwork is essential. Even though I have all the skills of a max-level character, I don't know how to craft the character I want yet.
Sounds fun, I can get my guardian in on that since I've been trying to make him useful to people, but this game kind of punishes that because targetting people to help them is physically impossible. I can't see that someone is hurt and could use my cone healing spell when I may not, because enemies don't often do aoe damage and you can't tell who they're targetting.
I wound up with this ish
Tain.1528
I believe we will see you for all of a day or two.
arjue.3120, i'm playing at my own pace so i'm not on 24/7 like i was with wow, but if you're on when i'm on i'm up for doing shit.
I saw my first jumping puzzle. It's kind of janky but it's great that it's in the game in the first place. If anyone's interested, the entrance is at the southeast vista in Lion's Arch.
There's also one in Queensdale that Thief told me about. Demongrub Pits.
I was on WvW last night and we got rolled by Jade Quarry and Crystal Desert. It's definitely not how it was in the first week (where even the QT3 podcast was whining about the might of Stormbluff Isle). I've gotten way better though, the combos are boss.
I can't wait til we get together and fucking roll WvW. It'll be a riot.
The queues make it tough. My friend joined me last night but it was like a 40-60 minute wait.
Since we're playing an MMO again I should start posting on TNL again.
WE SHOULD, DUNGEON?
Should you?
We did, and it was alright.
So this thing is pretty awesome: http://gw2cartographers.com/
ArenaNet has previously talked about all sorts of external software that will hook directly into the live game so I figure this is the start of that.
It's super useful, especially because you can't just run around looking at shit in Orr. It's the worst high level set of zones I've ever seen, every 5 seconds you're getting slowed poisoned and anchored.
This nonsense is half-off until the 13th. I'm considering playing this due to the neat combat and lack of monthly fee. Does this MMO contain just as much boring travel and excessive grinding as all of the others?
http://buy.guildwars2.com
You get xp for just about everything (quests, finding new locations, crafting), so no, it's not the slog some other games are. Once you find and activate warp points, you can fast travel everywhere, assuming you have the coin. They even provide multiple warp points throughout the massive hub cities to get around faster.
If you can run it at max settings, it's also an incredibly beautiful game.
It's a doo doo game, i hate it! I HATE IT!
they touched the dark areas of my soul
It's still boring as fuck and didn't hold my interest for more than a month. It might have been because I was playing alone, but I can't recommend it.
I've tried to get into this game like four or five times now. If I was to write up a list it would seem like GW2 was an awesome game on paper, but I just can't bring myself to give a shit when I'm playing it. It sounds like a much better game than it actually is.
I play it like mad for a bit every few months. I enjoy it.
A lot of your enjoyment will come from world v world. Also, friends and being on a popular server goes a long way. I'm not an MMO guy usually, but I loved this game. Love the music and art especially. I come back to it so often. I play on Jade Quarry.
What classes are y'all playing?
I've got every class, I think. The attacks all feel sloppy and weak, which I think is a big part of my lack of fuck giving.
My main is a Sylvari Thief, although lately I've been playing my human Mes more than anything else.
My only gripe with the game (and it's a fairly significant one, unfortunately) is that it's drastically pared down compared to the first game in terms of skill sets and builds. This probably has more to do with all classes being able to sustain themselves (heal and buff/debuff) in battle more than anything else, which is fine if you're looking for a more accessible and faster-paced game. I do miss having a stable of maxed characters that were configured for very specific purposes and discovering and/or learning how to use completely broken builds, though. I have fond memories of farming ectos using perma Shadow Form, mastering the 55 monk and bludgeoning my way through missions as a minion master.
From what I understand, they've nerfed so much of that since I last played that I guess it's a moot point now.
I have this now. Tell me where the few of you who would want to start this up again play.
