I wouldn't call being gay a personal choice. Acting on it, sure, total choice. But it is like being blonde. Yeah you can dye yourself another color but the base color is still there. Least that is what both experience and mainstream science says (so far). Gay as a culture? Sure, that's one conclusion.

Religion is pure choice once you're an adult.

I certainly did rebut it, with a simple argument by analogy. I contend that God did not magically create itself one day and then magically create everything else the next day and THAT contention still stands.

If you can accept that something as complex as God exists without reason or need for additional justification then you must, by analogy accept that it is equally or more possible that the universe "just exists" in the same way.

Either that or show where the analogy breaks down.

First, some gays do recruit. And I won't even touch the "spreads and affects others" comment. But all of that aside, one can reasonably argue that both camps are extremely delusional. I'm simply saying that one is no more worthy of decency than the other, regardless of where one stands.
