Semantic debate. People don't really base their urges on faith, but people base their behavior on faith.

Some people might call a man more attracted to men "gay" even if he sleeps with women. Others would only call him that if he acted on it. It seems some people are using the term in one sense and some in the other, but I don't think there's any actual disagreement here.
