that is nothing but semantics on the part of her preacher. She went to church one day and the preacher said "religion means this. Christianity is this. Therefore, Christianity is not a religion." Then add in some subtle shit to make the members of the church feel special and "right" because they are better than all those "religions."

I also think in order to be considered a persecuted group, your demographic needs to make up less than 100% of the country's presidents.

As far as I'm concerned, the term atheist shouldn't even exist.
It's like having a specific term for people that don't believe in the tooth fairy, or bigfoot, or whatever other silly shit idiots believe in.
It just gives morons an excuse to group all of us 'non believers' together so they can make an imaginary enemy out of us.
I know there are some atheists who belong to organizations and promote their world view, but they're a tiny minority. I really don't give a shit what other people believe so long as it doesn't make them do stupid shit that harms others.
If we should be promoting anything, it should be rationality and critical thinking, so that people can arrive at their own conclusions based on sound reason.

I don't care if people bend. I care about basic human respect. I hate people that believe being correct is an excuse to treat others like shit.

All tyranny is founded on that perspective: the belief that those that are correct can do what they want with those that are not correct.

Not to mention that it was originally used by the Greeks to refer to Christian (and pagan) heathens because they worshiped 'false gods'. It's hilarious. It really is.

Atheist's do exist though. They are the people who have total faith that there is no higher power. Most people who claim to be atheist are actually agnostic.

I've never really associated atheism with faith.
I'm convinced that the deities from our religions are imaginary, but that isn't the result of faith.

True atheists really do have just as much faith as some hardcore religious nut. They believe without a shadow of a doubt that there is no higher power.

What you think of atheism is probably agnosticism.
