Neil Gaiman-written comics are the closest mainstream comics get to good writing, but a lot of his stuff is wordswordswords. His book-books are really good!


This is the best cartoon. Brian Doyle Murray is the best voice actor.

I've liked some of what I've seen of flapjack. I saw the episode where the captain has to get really fat so he can wear the fancy pants.

Scott Pilgrim (it basically takes place in the River City Ransom universe. <3 this book.)
DMZ (good stuff!)
Transmetropolitan (the adventures of Future Hunter S. Thompson)
Remake (repetition repetition)
Scud: The Disposable Assassin (My Karma Ran Over Your Mama)
The Ultimates 1, The Ultimates 2 (got me back into comics, NEVER read Ultimates 3)
Y: The Last Man (good book!)
pretty much anything by Paul Pope (he's rad)
Sin City (still pretty good! the movie wasn't actually necessary, it's all there on the page but better.)
Hellboy (Lovecraft x Monster punching)
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (so good, so not whatever that movie was. victorian pulp literature references are GO.)
anything by Doug TenNapal (Earthworm Jim creator, kind of heavy handed moral lessons but the art is SO NICE. "Black Cherry" or "Tommysaurus Rex" are good starts.)
Preacher (the best HBO show that doesn't exist. sick sense of humor x great characters)
