There's a (crappy) DS version. Trackmania really doesn't work on any other platform. The level creation tools demand mouse controls and the leaderboards, level sharing, and multiplayer all require an internet connection as well as a hard drive. The only other platform it might, might work on is iPhone, but even then there would be control issues when you race.
DS version isn't crappy. And come on - if they wanted to, they could easily make a track editor for Xbox 360 / PS3, along with everything else. Nothing is stopping them. (Okay, Microsoft's rules could pose a stumbling block for level sharing, but if Nadeo really wanted to push the issue, and maybe make the game Xbox 360 exclusive, I'm more than willing to bet MS could be convinced.)
No, I really don't think they could. Not without the track editor being unbelievably clunky. And the DS version is really crappy since half of the fun of Trackmania is comparing times with your friends and region. The other half is finding truly insane tracks that people have uploaded.
We're going to have to agree to disagree here, because I think that's BS. If you really wanted to, you could make freakin' Photoshop totally usable on a Dual Shock or 360 controller. The problem is, too many PC developers get spoiled and just fall back on the old "you can't do this without keyboard+mouse" argument.
The problem is, you seem to be allergic to PC games. Did you have a traumatic experience involving a PC tower or something?
As for the idea of Photoshop on a controller, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Shidoshi's right that you could rework a track editor to work with a controller, but wrong about the rest. The consoles are just too closed right now to allow the kind of custom content Trackmania needs.
Actually, PS3 might be able to do it. Unreal Tournament 3 handled mods pretty well. But then you'd have to actually develop for PS3.

I really don't know where this myth of horrible ini editing came from. I can think of one and exactly one recent game where I went ini diving in order to improve performance: Stalker, which already ran - I just wanted it to run a little better.
