2009-2010 NHL season thread

How many teams have made the playoffs every year since the lockout, let alone 1997? While anything less than a Cup is failure, calling the Devils mediocre makes the bar impossibly high for everyone else. And that is despite multiple rule changes implemented with their detriment in mind. And no way are you disputing that.

edit: But thank you for pointing out that the only teams with similar injury situations to the Devils are a combined 22-24-1 while the Devils have the league's best record at this moment, barely ahead of Chicago.

Ummmm.... the Rangers have and you consistently call them out for poor management, poor trades, etc... despite pretty much equalling the Devils', um, "success" since the lockout.

Best record doesn't mean shit in November and it means even less for the Devils since they don't do dick in the playoffs anymore despite having great regular seasons (like the Sharks, for example).

Hemsky is done for the season. Having shoulder surgery.

Grr.

Hopefully however this will give O'Sullivan an opportunity to wake the fuck up.

So, one in the whole conference? I wouldn't say the Rangers have been mediocre since the lockout either, though this season is challenging that. Granted, it is early, as you pointed out.

Christ the injuries keep coming.

He played another fantastic game, kept the team in in the first, and then BLADOW the Devils blasted them out of the water. Islanders lol?

Henrik is killing my fantasy team this year. He's been a superstar for several seasons now but as is the case with so many goalies they can rarely keep it up for half a decade plus. Sure his defense is bad but he's been better, the Rangers D hasn't really been spectacular in four years.

The Rangers: it's not so much the amount of shots they're giving up but the quality scoring chances are awful. They make horrendous mistakes.

The Devils/Islanders: Marty was very good, but that BS call that led to a 5-3 killed the Isles.

The Pens: I think they just might blow out the Rangers again tonight. I'm thinking Valiquette is in goal, too, with Henrik playing the Pens at home on Monday.

Monday's game should be fun to watch. Maybe pussy as Brasheer will actually fight Godard instead of Matt Cooke. Avery will also be getting his, I'm sure ;)
