Down the middle I agree with. On D is BS, assuming Martin isn't actually dead rather than recovering.
But every team has gaping weaknesses, so one isn't enough to throw anyone out of mix anymore. God bless the cap!

we have all these garbage centers and if Patty could win a faceoff we'd actually be set.
Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti: "It certainly doesn't show up in the standings," he said. "If I'm a Yankees fan, I'm upset we're not winning 130 games with the roster that they have and the money that they pay out. I think it's a disgrace they only beat the average team by 10 games in the standings with three times the money. I'd fire that GM. You don't need a GM. All you have to do is buy the last Cy Young Award winner every year."
His statements are all correct.
Now can all of the caps, please. Stop this megacorporation bullshit and let every franchise sink or swim with no revenue sharing, caps, or any other socialistic bullshit. In 10 years, when half the teams are gone, the games will be 10x better to watch.
You're right, they will, because ESPN classic will be the only network broadcasting sporting events, live from 1950 to 2019.
You're fucking nuts if you think reducing the number of teams would reduce interest. The greatly improved quality of play would probably increase it, once all of the worthless market fans stopped crying in their beer and realized how much their teams were ruining shit. You'd still have the 49ers to root for (maybe).
You're nuts if you think that retraction would stop at 10 teams per league. I'm saying the leagues would implode completely.
Anyone can make a case for retracting 2 teams. Pruning the tree and all that shit. But go any deeper and suddenly suddenly your league looks like it is horribly managed and is a bad place to plant your money. Would all professional sports leagues disappear? No, but there is no guarentee that what results from purging 10 teams would emerge stronger than before. Something else could replace it. Are you ready to start wearing UFC shirts and attending Poker tournaments, running fantasy bowling leagues?
I'm a bigger fan of capitalism than any sport. Go team!
hahahah.
USA Today is reporting that Kovalchuk is indeed going to New Jersey. No details at all yet.
edit: ESPN has it too.
edit2: The Fourth Period has details:
I'd call that a significant gamble, but none of those guys would be on my untouchable list either.Quote:
TFP Editor-in-Chief David Pagnotta has confirmed a deal has been made, with defenseman Johnny Oduya, two forwards and a first-round pick heading to Atlanta.
Forward Nicklas Bergfors and prospect Mattias Tedenby are also believed to be part of the deal.
