Shtick?
Your mom is contrived and often used.
She loves it btw.
I shtick her regularly.
I don't like the way these Wii games use some sort of default Wii message screen to relay information. Look at something like Assassin's Creed 2 and it has a super-stylish and sharp UI; back in Mario land we're using giant, ugly, system default windows.
The reward for getting everything in NSMBW? A giant, fat text box telling you, quite literally "You have now completed everything in NSMBW."
That's a giant, fat text box more than NSMB DS gave you. This game isn't exactly oozing with charisma, but it's a huge step up from the DS prequel's Banal Gray Rectangle take on UIs.

Gross.
boo, spoiler!
What ever happened to finishing everything for the sake of doing it (not that I'm championing the idea)? I remember being a kid and trying to finish every level in SMB3 (even the lame ones), or 100% Super Metroid in one sitting. Granted I don't have the time or feeling of dedication to do that with games anymore, but for those who do 100% a game and then get all upset over no super-bonus...what gives?
I dunno. I never asked for it until they started giving it to us. We've come to expect fall season/Mario masks and Sparkly Triple Jump. A beige Congratulations text box with all the grace and aestheticism of an IGN pop-up ad for Axe Body Spray simply will not do!
Also, looking at that NSMB DS screenshot again, what's worse than all the gray is that deplorable '80s-looking not-quite-pastel-not-quite-neon streak behind SCORE and the lives count. It can only be described as Trapperkeeper Teal.
I was pretty happy to just get 100%. I went into the game knowing that, no matter how awesome I was going to be at it, I'd never have an achievement, trophey, avatar item or Home clothing to show for it...
