I don't know. Both games are good, but Super Mario Galaxy is really fucking good. I actually think it is a better game than NSMB Wii.

I think Galaxy is pretty brilliant, myself. Too easy of course but that might actually be fixed by Galaxy 2! God bless the Super Guide.
I thought EAD Tokyo did make NSMB Wii because various sites list them as the developer. I haven’t beat the game yet and seen the end credits so maybe they’re wrong and it was made by Tezuka’s team that did the DS game. Either way, I loved Jungle Beat and Galaxy, and would love to see EAD Tokyo make a new franchise.
According to wiki, EAD 4 (same team that did the DS one) did NSMBW.
It's slightly offensive that anyone could mistake a game as stylistically bankrupt as NSMBW as coming out of EAD Tokyo.
I didn't, I really hated the small planet design. It is the only Mario game that I never bothered finishing. Don't get me wrong, I think it's better than Sunshine but at least Sunshine had full sized worlds/areas. Running around a globe bored me so much I stopped playing it.
I thought the linear planetoid design made it by far the closest a 3D Mario has come to a point-to-point sidescroller. The exploration bullshit in the other two 3D games doesn't interest me at all.
Mario Galaxy is hands-down the best 3D Mario game ever, by a good amount. I loved every second of it and went back to 100% it again with Luigi.
No, I do know what you mean - but it's still over-exaggerating something for the sake of. I just took that metric and applied it to another game to show so.
The way I look at it, derivative or not, I'll take a game I like over a game I don't. that means I can have my cake AND eat it too - I can like Modern Warfare 2, NSMBWii, Dragon Age AND sleep soundly at night without thinking I committed some gamer's sin by allowing 'derivative' games into my home.
See? If you can over exaggerate so can I. It's fun!
