Is that as bad as having DLC codes on Live and not being able to download due to country IP blocking? I had to take my HDD to the US and use my US Live account to download the Gears 2 golden lancer and flashback DLC, also just picked up all DLC while I was at it but can't access the DLC at all with my regular JP account even though it is a NTSC-J.

It's just as bad. Shit is fucking retarded. Blizzard has the same problem with their online purchase shit as well. All that crap needs to end. PSN is at least getting it right, aside from movies nothing at all has an IP block.
