You are fucking crazy. You have a PS3 and 360 and your serious?

Brown games, military FPS and monosyllabic racing games have no place on my shelf. So, yes!
Uncharted 2 and Demon Souls say hello.
DIRT, GRID, PURE, CAR, RACE, BROWN,
Demon's Souls does not say "hello." It says "I'm going to try to trick you into mistaking difficulty for depth."
Uncharted 2 hasn't say anything to me yet, but Uncharted 1 said "I'm a watered-down Gears of War with worse controls, gimmicky grenade throwing that I guess gets a free pass since I'm on PS3 and not Wii, and Saturday Morning Fox Kids Cartoon humor."
Holy shit did you even play Pure? It's a brilliant game. This generation has seen some of the best racing games. Grid is awesome too, that's mostly street racing. And Dirt is rally racing of course there is going to be brown. Crazy light bloom is a bigger offender in that game than the color palette.
Forza 3 is very pretty. But if you hate sims then you won't like it.
I like arcadey stuff. Like Outrun 2 and the parts of Burnout Revenge that involve racing and not some inane minigame like C HOW MANY CARS U CAN BLOW UP. Which of the monosyllabic racing games is most like those?
You must get Race Pro NOW!
Pure, best dirt bike/atv game since Excitebike 64. It's like SSX with wheels. Looks great, plays great, the trick/turbo system really puts it over the top. There's real skill to the game to get to the end.
That teams next game is Split Second, def going to check it out since Pure is so good.
Check out Grid for some damn good street racing. And check out the demo for NFS: Shift. That one took me by surprise, I haven't had the chance to play the whole game yet.
Split Second looks hot, confirmed!
Forza 3 has been made really newb-friendly, so I think you MIGHT like it if you don't like sims. Try out the demo first though. GRiD is awesome - probably my favorite racer overall this gen, and Pure is the best ATV racer out there. DiRT 1 and 2 are both up there with Rallisport Challenge 2 as far as being my favorite off-road racers. Fuel is garbage though - avoid it.
Oh yeah, hauls! I bought the UFC: Ultimate 100 Blu-Ray from Best Buy's site for $55 - about half off the MSRP, so yeah, I'm gonna be happy with that once it arrives. Plus, I'll be getting the God of War Collection and Tekken 6 early next week as well.
On Steam earlier this month:
- Dragon Age: Origins Digital Deluxe Edition
- Mass Effect
And then I bought a bunch of hardcover Realms books. Wasn't cheap.

You don't need that much toilet paper.
Fair enough. I don't think Demon's Souls is a bad game, I just think we're generally so starved for challenge that we've begun idealizing good-but-not-great stuff like Etrian Odyssey and Demon's Souls. It's an above average action game that happens to be remarkably difficult. There really isn't much to the combat. It's mostly just lock on, move around until they whiff, stab them, repeat.
The problem is, that's starting to sound too much like the "the game is cheap, not difficult" argument, which is completely untrue if you've played the game for any amount of time. Plus, Demon's Souls isn't just about its difficulty - it's also pretty interesting in a number of other ways. Is it this amazing experience without faults? No, of course not. But I think the game "gets" a lot of little elements that too many other titles simply don't understand, and that's what makes it a fun experience.
There's also a very easy test to see who really knows the game and who has just played it enough to bitch about it: the lock on. Anybody who uses lock on save a few rare occasions is still at that point where they aren't playing the game for real.
Doshi just made it real.
Huh? It's a completely different argument. Cheap is when proficiency in the game's mechanics isn't enough, and sheer memorization is required to progress. Bullets/enemies that appear faster than can be reacted to in shooters and fake blocks/stretches of floor in so many NES games (Castlevania 2, Megaman Whatever) epitomize cheapness. Demon's Souls doesn't really suffer from that stuff.
From Software and Cavia are similar in that they have wonderful ideas and know what makes a game good, but at some point their ambition writes a cheque that their talent can't cash. But yeah, it's definitely a step in the right direction. I mean, the developers of WET probably thought they had a masterpiece on their hands, which is a scary thing!
Same here except for the 3-d Zelda games.
Why are those off the hook? "Z-targeting" is just as bad (if not worse, in the cases of the N64 ones) as the lock-on mechanics in most games.
Udon's Art of Capcom Artbook- which enlightened me that Udon is a cooperative and not a single artist. Good to know.
Braid (PSN)
Why is he crazy? The Wii had a solid year.
Punch-Out!!
Madworld
Klonoa
Muramasa
Wii Sports Resort
NSMBWii
Boy and his Blob
Rockband: Beatles
Call of Duty 4
Boom Blox Bash Party
Conduit
FF: Crystal Chronicles
Dawn of Discovery
Silent Hill
Dead Space Extraction
Deadly Creatures
Excitebots
Cursed Mountain
...
Not to mention the many WiiWare stuff as well. So, it was a solid lineup for them this year.
lol @ listing an awful downport of a 2-year-old game.
Among other things.
There's no padded list like a Nintendo fan's padded list.
I got The Warriors and Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!
Birthday haul:
$20
Guitar Hero DS: Modern Hits (Terrible, terrible tracklist - I forsee trade-in credit for this soon)
Oh, forgot to list Dragon Age Origins for PC.
And SERIOUS LOL @ than WII shit lists (there are few good games on it, but as whole its laughable compared to 360 or PS3)
Well, the only reason I've included it is because it is a 2009 title, supposedly.
Purchases for the Year:
Ghostbusters - 360
Infamous - PS3
Uncharted 2 - PS3
Batman: AA - 360 and PS3
Demon's Souls - PS3
Valkyria Chronicles - PS3
Ratchet and Clank - PS3
Mario and Luigi - DS
Punch-Out - Wii
Where is this Nintendo fan you speak of?
The point of my original post was that, as far as a lineup is concerned, the Wii actually had a solid, if not spectacular, one this year. Maybe they don't have as many interesting titles for you and I, but you cannot deny that some people may prefer these titles.
Since the press likes to overrate Wii games, here are the best case scenario Metacritic scores for your "solid year":
Punch-Out!! - 86
Madworld - 81
Klonoa - 76
Muramasa - 80
Wii Sports Resort - 80
NSMBWii - 86
Boy and his Blob - 80
Rockband: Beatles - 89
Call of Duty 4 - 78
Boom Blox Bash Party - 86
Conduit - 69
FF: Crystal Chronicles - 64 and 73
Dawn of Discovery - 81
Silent Hill - TBD
Dead Space Extraction - 82
Deadly Creatures - 72
Excitebots - 77
Cursed Mountain - 67
...
If a "solid lineup" is everything that gets a 67 or better, do you know how long the 360, PS3, and PC lists would be for 2009? And they would actually have some 90s too. As a general rule for me, a 90+ is a day one purchase, an 80+ is a rental or a price drop purchase, a 70+ is a rental or a clearance purchase, and a 60+ is a pass. So I would not buy anything for full price that you listed.Quote:

edit: Added NSMB's completely unimpressive 86.
The only games I consider good (that are exclusive) on that list are:
Punch-Out
Muramasa
Possibly New SMB
Maybe Wii Sports resort
The rest are average, if not downright crappy. I got Madworld recently and it was pretty disappointing. If it was on 360/PS3, it wouldn't even register a blip.
Yoshi, don't start quoting aggregator bullshit - that's going to give Spike a reason to bring in sales numbers and then this thread becomes Neogaf thread #18979617614390713 about why the Wii does/doesn't suck.
He's in this thread and made a list of around 20 mostly garbage games to try to say that the Wii had a good year.
I don't give a fuck what other people prefer; I'm not going to post about how some system had a "solid year" if I didn't buy many of its games, which is something you have managed to do here. If you intended it to imply a "solid year in sales" or some impersonal crap, then you should have said so because otherwise the wording makes it look like you believe the system had a "solid year" based on what games you like.Quote:

From there I would ask what kind of people who post on videogame message boards really care if a system had a solid year in sales, but the answer quickly comes to mind because it is Nintendo fans.
The Bigs 2 & Tropic Thunder on Blu. $11 for the pair.

Dont forget to mention the awesome deal you just got from plik!
(mad jealous!)
picked up a couple goodies from work today
the Terminator Bluray - $9.99
Tomb Raider Anniversary (360) - $11.99
Just had to return Monsters Inc and Up on Blu Ray to Amazon because right after they shipped they decided to throw Cars into a bundle for $3 more than what I paid for the two. So now I got 3 Pixar BRD's for under $35 shipped.
But Cars sucks.
I'm not talking scores or sales. I'm saying a "solid" lineup because it had a variety of titles that some people could be interested in. Compared to the Wii's previous years, where the release list was downright anemic, this is a "solid" lineup.
Again, maybe the titles don't appeal to us, but it is understandable if someone like A Robot Bit Me says that the Wii was his favourite system this year, that they had a steady stream of titles on offer.
Compared to getting shot in the head four times, AIDS is solid
so far I got MW2 and that's it
I didn't think Cars was that bad. Boring yes, but kids dig colorful moving pictures.
I picked up Sega Classics Collection for PS2 today.
Super Paper Mario ($25 via ebay) arrived today, as did the Best of Dragon Gate Vol. 1 for $15 off of the ROH website.
Edit - Also bought the PRIDE 33 DVD and got some Christmas-related shopping done as I bought Darian Iron Man via Gamefly and Superman Returns via Amazon.
Classic Controller Pro (Wii) - this is awesome
Modern Warfare 2 (360) - this is not as good as Killzone 2, that's for sure.
Picked up Dragon Age (360). Been waiting for a good RPG to sink my teeth into since I finished Fallout 3.

Fast & Furious 4 (blu-ray) $10
Shoot 'em Up (blu-ray) $10
Top Gun (HD-DVD) $7
L4D2 (ready for tonight, midnight! Bitches) PC + 360 since my g/f wants to play the game without me. Yet the PC version is the definitive experience for me.
CoD:MW2 (360)- GOTY? I might get the Pc version once it goes on sale. But 360 version seems to be where all my friends are anyway.
And that's it. Tried Torchlight, can see why everyone loved it, but cannot really find the time to justify buying till next month.
Barnes and Noble 50% off Criterion sale is on again. Plus they have stackable $5 off coupons and extra 10% off if you are a B&N Member

Had a $10 coupon for Shopko, this better be good:
New Super Mario Bros Wii
http://www.gamestop.com/common/images/lbox/647614b.jpg
Steam unlocked this ~$33 of awesomeness, and there's no way I'm passing this up for $5:
How are you not sick to fucking death of the Star Wars Trench Run by now?
Wait a minute
isn't that Rebel Assault?
god that game played like ass shit
 I was thinking the same thing.
I trench run your mom last night.
ODST.
Brought my 360 to work for my semi annual updates and downloads. So far I got Shadow Complex, and am browsing the lists to see if there is anything else purchase worthy.
Soul Calibur IV, The Adventures of Pete and Pete Season One, and PRIDE FC: FINAL CONFLICT ABSOLUTE 2006 arrived. Quite a diverse haul. I also pre-ordered New SMB Wii for $46 on Amazon, and got a $10 promotional code for doing so.
Edit - Just bought the Fiona Apple iTunes Originals album as well.
More XBLA.
Monkey Island
KoF 98
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
I really want to get a shooter, but I just bought games I already own in one form or another, and would like to try something new. I have Ikaruga on GC, so that's out. Are any of the other shooters (not twinstick, thank you) worth getting? Never played Triggerheart, but I recall yall not being thrilled with it.
it's been an expensive month:
- UP DVD (because my broke ass has no HDTV or BluRay player)
- Borderlands - 360
- Modern Warfare 2 - 360
- Metroid Prime Trilogy - Wii
- Muramasa - Wii
- New Super Mario Bros. - Wii
R-Type Dimensions
The Dishwasher
That does it for me. Contemplating Splosion Man and Trials though.
Trials is super fun but gets hard as balls later on.
It is not the balls that get hard.
It sounds like SOMEBODY has not been to Kokomo.
He should get there fast. Then he can take it slow.
That's where I want to go.
To get away from it all?
For an afternoon delight, cocktails and moonlit nights imo.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Assassin's Creed II - PS3 (for $30.99...thank you Amazon $20 MW2 credit and $5 coupon.) :D
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Fight Club BRD
Leon: The Professional BRD
All of Konami's iPhone games are $0.99 right now. I picked up Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, and Krazy Kart Racing. I am debating going for Silent Scope, Frogger, and Power Pro as well.
edit: OMFG you can play as Pyramid Head in Krazy Karts! :D
Are SH and MGS ports or new games? While I can't imagine that working so well I'm pretty curious. A Silent Scope iPhone game could be kind of neat, I guess.
Picked up L4D2 today!
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/xenog/200719b.jpg
I'd call them "gaiden" games. SH is a first person escape game, and MGS is a 3PS... almost a light gun game.
Star Trek: Season 1 (HD-DVD) = $40 used, but minty fresh.
Star Trek (Blu-Ray)= $19.99 at Fry's
COD: MW2 (360) = $49 at Fry's last week.
Picked up the God of War: Collection during my lunch break. Woohoo! :)
http://www.gohanblog.fr/wp-content/u...on-300x300.jpg
how much was that?
Retail $40
that's pretty sweet, looks like I have a reason to play my PS3 for once
I picked up Assassin's Creed 1 finally, and NSMBW. Don't know if I'll be buying anything else this month except for Mushiimnottypingoutthefullname.
