Well then, I suppose I won't drag my wife to this if it sucks this badly. I'll just make her watch the old version.

It might have been the worst movie I have ever seen.
Don't go see this movie. Every scene in the movie was done wrong. There is some very talented technical work but it all goes to waste by being bookended with amateur fluff and getting paced all wrong. No one involved seemed to care about the viewer's imagination or suspension of disbelief, how to engage either, or why anyone might find Greek mythology interesting in the first place.
How did the only potentially interesting character, that happens to be from a desert culture and wear a turban, also end up being a suicide bomber? Everyone on board was OK with that? wow
I disagree. The original [movie's] design is simple and effective, and leads to a chilling reveal. The new design, like everything in movie, lacks any subtly whatsoever; although I agree the collection of coins was a cool touch.
Also, really convenient how he never needed a ride back and just flew out of the underworld. Where he meets Io after the Medusa fight looked just like the environment before they got on the ferry.
It was like every movie made nowadays- all flash, no substance or personality. The second you walk out the theater it's forgotten. I'm actually getting bummed by how commonplace this is getting.
I never saw Perseus get swallowed by the scorpion. I figured it jumped on top of him and he cut his way through it since it was too heavy to lift, but he made a comment later about being eaten by a scorpion. Bad editing. My buddy is taking his wife to see this Friday. I already warned him but it doesn't sink in. He loved the Spawn movie.
Is this the greatest film ever? No. Does it have problems? It does, and serious ones.
I'm certainly not going to defend Clash of the Titans as a great example of action filmmaking or mythological accuracy, because it isn't. (Neither is the original, Medusa scene aside.)
However, I went in expecting it to be an insult to the original, like so many remakes are these days, but I was pleasantly surprised when it was not. Some of the new ideas didn't work, and it sure was messy, but I came away with more positives than negatives.
And Charon growing out of the underside of an overturned boat was a pretty cool interpretation of the classic icon.
Just saw this with the gf, it sucked. Boring and dumb.
PS - The 3D was non-existant and shitty as well.
