Collective Memory

I've been playing assassin's creed 2 and I got to wondering what everyone's experience and thoughts are on this. I'm speaking more of the paranormal meaning of this word, where humanity has a collective memory to draw upon. People use this concept to explain how scientist throughout history have worked on the same thing at the same time despite being separated by great distances, culture, and language. It has also been used to explain Déjà vu and people who think they have seen past lives.

In my experience this is the most common form of paranormal interaction that people have. Many people get deja vu and/or dream of things that happen later.

In an effort to bring this thread back on topic:

I get deju vu a lot. It is pretty common for me to have dreams that take place in places I've never been to, only to go there years later. I will also dream 5 or 10 ten minute segments of life and live that moment about half a year later.

There have been more uncanny events from people in my family. Such as people dreaming the solutions of problems or dreaming events that happen later that day.

But what about the other 99% of the time when you dream that turtles are eating your toes or that you're being chased by a cottage cheese monster? Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
